Not sure if this is the best place to post as not involving wood at all.....please move if another forum better.
I'm in the process of building the above for my workshop. When I use my plasma CNC I need the door wide open and it gets bloomin cold in the winter...and sometimes in the so called 'summer'.
There are lots of ideas on You tube but most of them seem too hot for my needs so I'm combining ideas to, hopefully, make a more controllable heater....it's quite simple to make but gives out a LOT of heat with old engine oil or veg oil so pretty cheap to run!
I've made a good start and will post pics as I go along and also a list of bits I am using.
As I didn't want to mess around finding and then converting a gas bottle I have bought an old woodburning stove and will use that but this idea also works with an old gas bottle.
Ok a quick list of parts I've bought/scrounged/found so far:
Old woodburning stove - cost me £67.00 but that seems cheap as they go for wild prices!
5 gallon metal barrel to hold waste oil - £5.00 off Ebay
Tap for barrel...I've used an old radiator valve
Various lengths of 15mm copper pipe I had lying around and also I've used some 15mm plastic flexi I had in the loft.
Various elbows, tees, and other joints.
Some heavy pipe that was used as a handrail - £1 from scrappy
Old fire extinguisher for the burner vessel - £1 from scrappy
A 12 volt bilge blower £13 Ebay
3 metres 3" flexi hose for blower -£5 Ebay
3 Metres of 100mm thin walled tube for the flues £10 from scrappy
Couple of 90 degree elbows for flue £10 Ebay
PWM controller for the blower £4 Ebay
Old 12 volt DC transformer from and old drill charger
Just over £110 so far but the woodburner was most of that........
I have also made a couple of adaptors from 3mm sheet for the fire using my CNC but these could be fabricated by hand.
All the pics are on my phone so I get them onto my PC and start posting them tomorrow...watch this space.
