Waiting for a plumber to get back to you, how long do you wait?

I had a plumber/heating engineer pop round to have a look at our tripping boiler problem 4 days ago, he made a note of the details/parts needed, said that he would find out the prices for said parts and work out his labour charge,.....I've heard nothing since.

I'm guessing that he just don't want the job then or am I being harsh here? What is an acceptable/reasonable time to wait just to hear back from such a tradesman??

most ive ever come across would give an ruff price of the part on the spot and a price for the job on the spot and then say i would need to cheak the part price they are normaly with in a 15 percent of thre part price

I were hoping for that sort of response too.

easy . he don't want the job and would rather loose an hours pay and just disappear or the job would be a looser . and he can earn easer money elsewhere . just fob you off. ifi get any losers I just tell them upfront without going out that its uneconomical for me. get someone else

I always find them really slow to get back to me.I normally give them a week then give them a nudge with a text or email asking if they have my email/number to send the estimate to.

got a stupid job to do tomorrow. guy has a faulty pir outside light and asked me to come and have a look ; I just said go buy a new one your self and il go fit it . just charge for the hour and no hassle not going to fanny about go look then go for a light . theres 2 hours for a start that would be 40 quid for the light and 65 for fitting =£105

Wait till Monday. If he's a one man band he will be working all hours under the sun and night have 4 or 5 quotes prior to yours pending

If someone just doesn't want to do a job, any job, I'd rather them say just that, at least you know where you stand then.

At least saying such let's the customer know where they stand, I've no problem with that at all.

If someone just doesn't want to do a job, any job, I'd rather them say just that, at least you know where you stand then.

a lot of folk don't have the guts to tell you they cant and string u along I just say I cant full stop and if they continue pestering il just say ok il call when I can and il let you down

Do you really need guts to say "Sorry, I'm fully booked up to X month" or whenever?

Exactly,....some old/frail folk could be dead by then.
