Sorry but in this modern age, with many quick and easy ways to send a message, being 'busy' is a lame excuse.
Like I've said before, just be honest from the start, can't get back to some one within a week or don't want the job period, fine,...worst thing is leaving folk in the dark/hanging.

Stop complaining and either contact him or find another plumber ffs.
He's not charging you for a quote. He hasn't charged you for the time out of his workday to visit and assess your job. He either is busy and hasn't had time to hunt down obscure parts or it's not a profitable job for him so been pushed to the back of the quote pile.
Bit touchy aren't you?....I'm guessing that you treat potential customers the same way then.
I'm certainly not going to chase anyone who clearly doesn't want to do a job,...no trust in him actually turning up to do the job now.

I work 10-12 hour days. Finding time to quote is an ongoing issue. I make potential customers aware when they can expect to receive a quote. If I'm running behind il pop them a message. That's my concern.
It's your attitude that I don't like
He should do it when he gets home from work. You don't know his situation his workload. His family life
Maybe he didn't like your attitude and doesn't want to work for you.
I'm booked nearly full till May so I can't have many dissatisfied customers.
Try it from my point of view
You give up 2 hours of your own time and fuel to visit
You spend another hour and a half getting material prices together and building the quote.
You email it off and nothing
Not so much as an acknowledgement of receipt. Happens a lot.

It goes to the bottom of the pile and better options take precident. That's my decision. I'm my own boss.
I started the thread not to have a 'pop' at any one, I genuinely wanted opinions from others because I have very little experience with getting 'tradesmen' in period.
Being your own boss isn't easy I'm sure but it is your choice at the end of the day so stop whining about having to email off a few quotes. See, it works both ways.

It works totally fine via the rads, it's when you call for hot tap water, pressure gauge bounces around, boiler bangs, PRV opens, overheating & no flame light codes are tripped. Going by the fact that the tap water has been running hot and cold over some months to be honest, the suspect is the plate heat exchanger, points to it being blocked, makes sense? The expansion vessel is holding air/at the correct pressure, the overheating sensor is within the Ohm value stated in the book.
I have ordered a new exchanger, just to save someone messing about with acid etc trying to clean the current one out.
I really don't want to do this job myself but at the moment I'm feeling that I won't have much choice,.....if none of these plumbers even call me back with a quote, let alone a date to do the job, what else am I suppose to do?
I did replace the whole diverter valve myself the other year, again due to not being able to get hold of a local plumber,....that job were a bit of a pig to do access wise and a bit stressful due to never doing one before but I got it done in the end.
Any advice on how to remove the exchanger would be most appreciated, looks like the pump would need to be removed first??

If it fires up the pump will run, pump first before it fires is in the sequence of operation
It's a Baxi 105e, the whole diverter assembly is fairly new.

I'd go blocked plate or diaphragm, it can be new but they still fail. Diaphragm is about £8 and an easy swap

@earthman I do agree with what @eLuSiVeMiTe has said to you! Just got to suck it up & find another plumber that wants to do the job or as you've mentioned you get your hands dirty

If it starts to get heavy on price and more stress than you want British gas charge £109 plus £24.50 a month for 12 months cover, Which is about £400 and that includes boiler servicing and multiple call outs for 12 months.
