ah , thats youthful inexperience
Your dads transit obviously has air in the fuel system problems , but still had compression different issues all together , it was never addicted to easy start really.
, , granted if you take any engine back to the manufacturers spec from new , and it didnt need easy start then , it will go with out it again.
but if your looking at say a forty year old jcb thats had the bores washed and the compression is through the floor , needing rings , maybe pistons valve seats etc and a rebuild say a thousand pounds in machine work and parts set of heater plugs too , that wont start without easy start what would you call it.
Economics vs semantics , end of the day the driver will tell you its addicted to easy start , to that effect it is .
This was an old transit, round headlights when the smiley grills were on the road.
It was old and needed maintenance and repairs. It wasn't addicted to anything. Addiction is a human trait. It needed new fuel lines, leak of pipes and injectors because when I diagnosed it that is what was faulty. Compression was fine, valves were fine
I'm in awe of your ability to remote diagnose a vehicle from nearly 20 years ago based on my brief description, I will be in touch next time I have car trouble!
