I don’t recall them being that bad, may have wanted the lock stops adjusted.
Or maybe it was lowered, people sacrifice a lot to drop it that extra inch. Especially if done on the cheap.

Ive a Volvo C30 that is nearly that bad , to get it turned you nearly need a skippers ticket and a bow thruster .
But its quick and quiet so I forgive the poor turning circle.
Years ago someone fitted a propeller to a beetle & drove/sailed/motored? it across the channel.Before the rot got them they were watertight as standard,when my beetle was 14 years old it would float ,when we used to Ford the local Brooks,sometimes needed a push to get the wheels touching the ground again.
