If you're going to be using a narrower blade, you'll need to get narrower drive wheels too. The idea is that the teeth of the blade sit just off the edge of the drive wheel.
Narrower blades would be all over the place if they didn't run on the drive wheel shoulder, and if they did run on it, they'd soon wear out a wrong sized wheel as the teeth would be in constant contact with the wheel surface.
As said earlier, don't try it!
