If that happened where I worked in the 80's there was one guy who would have answered "Well I've got a 500 watter", but if pressed to prove it would reply "it's in the loft" it didn't matter what you had he would always have next model up "in the loft"

This thread explains why my van windscreen is so slimy on the inside. The guy who drove it before me is a heavy vaper. I've tried everything I can think of - neat winscreen wash, degreaser, glass cleaner, industrial glass clearner, brake cleaner but it still has a film that clears up when you clean it but returns when the screen is misted up.

I've stopped short of using thinners because I'm worried about damaging the dashboard plastics but I might have to get a blanket covering it up and have a go at that.

Thank you for being pedantic, It was a fair few years ago. But the point is that an industry was born from a waste by product & its going to kill a lot of people.

Think this applies to chlorine in our water too. I read that it's a waste product from some industry. Think it's something similar with seed oils too.
If it makes enough profit then it's safe.

Just seems absolutely crazy to me people will still pay a stupid amount of money to commit suicide, with all the knowledge out there now, knowing their money, their life, is paying for some very rich execs to fly on their private jet to some private holiday destination.

Although perhaps there's a chance your relatives, assuming they haven't been struck down by secondary smoking, to make a killing, if you'll excuse the terminology:

My first engineering job, where I learnt a lot, was with Philip Morris. One of those lessons was don't smoke - the constant coughing, the shortness of breath of people around me who used all the free tobacco allocation. I lasted less than a year in that environment, despite the money.

If you look at it that surviving tax payer will pay for his medical bills & medical staff till his demise , then perhaps it's not only a form of intentional suicide but is also selfish depending on your point of view .

A doctor, local to my pharmacy, would refuse to treat patients for any chest related problem if they smoked or vaped.

As AI in health improves I can see that self inflicted complains will be individually priced for treatments if we take the brave step and have insurance based health care . One thing is for sure we cannot keep our health service and funding as it is , it's just not sustainable and so much more than a postcode lottery .

There's no reason for the NHS to be unsustainable. But that's political, so not a suitable subject to discuss.

Stopping smoking usually leads to a bit of anxiety in the early weeks , for you have nothing to take the place of the actions of smoking .

It takes years to become a good proficient smoker , from that first drag of a pals ciggy to 20 or more a day , as a result many people think stopping is a long drawn out difficult process too .

In truth , if you really decide to stop smoking or vaping it takes a milli second to decide to do it and never smoke/ vape again . I binned about 100 lit cigs in 1980 ,then down to 15 a day habit to totally stopping without any massive inner conflict or concerns when I was 34 when I got hit with proper influenza , which took me several months to fully recover from and regain to my 12 stones in weight .

So many folk go the plastic tit full of crap route to satisfy not only the drug addiction crave but to also carry on with their smoking actions whilst paying through their noises for it and all the as yet not fully discovered side effects.

I wish all those who make a new year resolution to stop smoking ....... a massive success & a happier cleaner life .

I was on a 60 a day habbit and would never have stopped had it not been for my daughter, i took her to the doctors with pretty bad shortness of breath that came and went without warning, she was diagnosed with asthma and the doc asked if we were a smoking household OH and i both smoked allbeit OH was only about 10 a day, doc told me that was the cause of daughters problems, i went and got hypnosis to stop and have never looked back OH did the same, best £25 quid i ever spent, that was about 20 years ago, as for vaping well i just dont get why you would want to suck in the fumes of burning oil...

Alcohol is slowly being priced out of the pockets of people with little or no income .

Maybe we will end up like the Canadians and not have it for sale in every shop that also has a licenced premises for the sale of tobacco and only have it available from Government owned & run stores . Where you have set amounts of purchases allowed per month . For the three months or so we were there in total visiting family in Canada it certainly seemed that there was a lot less drunken oafishness and alcohol related problematic events going on .

That's why non smokers and almost teetotal'ers have such lower insurance premiums . Wait till AI is used to get your blood samples tested and you get related rates of insurance or benefits .

It's these type of discussions, & normal folks perceptions, which make me thankful I don't fall into the "normal" camp. So blind & small-minded are most. One perception, with absolutely no ability for alternate perceptions, & god forbid someone expects them to step out of their "comfort zone" or bubble.

I'm taking the devils advocate stance on this and many other posts , otherwise it would be your lemming situation with no different thoughts or solutions .

Yes I have looked at your first sentence about drains etc. many many times . China is trying to obliterate such things, so unless you have the right number of brownie points you end up restricting your life all by yourself .

Money makes the world go around and with AI heading more and more into our lives things are going to drastically change for those that fail to move forward with its implementation that's for sure .
