There‘s some interesting you tube clips with people trying to recover heavy boats.

I can’t find them. Anyone help…..

My 2p would be that you’d need 4WD with some poke for the actual launch and recovery operation, especially if it’s on a slip.

What’s the overall length of that trailer!! Looks like you’re right on the limit.

@W.olly. One Man And His Boat used a truck with a hiab for his similar size / weight boat. Lifted it straight into harbour. Could save on marina lifting costs ( usually yachty prices). Could save all the faff of ‘are my bearings okay’ and stress of towing a huge lump, storage of trailer etc etc. Plus something nice to hack about in as your daily instead of a van.

Another idea, but bit big to use as a daily driver aswell. Once had an idea of a doing a Ducato Tandem axle for this, but not big enough for this boat. Have room for storage aswell so that no problem. Its only liek be a few times a year, and dont mind towing even if its this big. quit like it really lol, i mite be weird yes haha

Just a good 4x4 like a Shogun, Land rover Landcruiser etc to make it safer and easier, slips can vary a lot, some are easy some not. There is a spot i would love to launch from fro a long weekend but its a beach launch, no chance i would chance that. many do it easy with smaller 16 foot boats.

Its near the limit with weight/width and length. Not sure on trailer length but its big enough, never actually measured it. Its an older one of these

These have light bars that slide out the chassis so then the lights can be extend to the edge of the outdrives to be legal.

I once assisted a very panicked man trying to pull out a small yacht on a rising tide. His little car wasnt making it on the slimy wet slip. Obviously an academic as he had no common sense. And the face plus body languageof his Mrs clear said they had a row mid fiasco too.

I am wanting a tow vehicle next year and was thinking on a Shogun again but as i have many i fancy a change, so looked at Discovery 2.7 TDV6 but faults worry me with Landrover more the Range Rivers.

Now i like to go away for a fishing session and over nighting and was thinking maybe a van so i convert to a camper, i have a Jumbo transit and was good but bit big and not the tow capacity i need of 3500kg.

What are vans like for towing with , maybe an Iveco or Transit MWB size. Iveco i like. early 2000`s maybe if i can find one with the tow capacity i need.

4WD would be great but few about in my budget or max £3k.

I bought a disco 3 for 3k just don’t bother mine broke down again last night after I had just about finished fixing the auto box problem. Burst a coolant pipe at 23:00 and left me stranded at the falls of falloch for a couple of hours. Hopefully the head gaskets are still ok and I noticed it quick enough.

yep, i do ;like the thought but not the 75% chance of the problems they come with. I am still deciding and no doubt it will take awhile but a Landrover of any kind is off the books. well and owd TD maybe but to sluggish. no real grunt to tow big stuff.

The old shoguns are pretty bomb proof but they rot like nobody’s business though for 3k you may find a decent one. Isuzu trooper is another good option, people say they are expensive and unreliable but it’s mainly people firing parts cannons at them and not properly diagnosing the problem.

I could be wrong and there may be the odd van, but I don’t have much to do with vans. Pickups it’s all newish stuff that’ll give you what you need.

What about the old Nissan patrols? They had a big train weight I think?

Just checked. Patrol is 3500 trailer.

So is land cruiser but only LWB of certain spec.

being picky now but not into the Troopers or Patrols, well the ones that can tow that much. Newer the vehicle more it can tow aswell. I know that a 2007 Shogun Diamond can tow 3500kg. just around budget, Also a Nissan Navara i could push too, a lot beaten up though. still body work is cheap to sort towards running gear.

Still considering an Iveco Daily 50c if i can sort my C1, cant see why not, just down to the useless DVLA and how long they take , but by time i want a tow vehicle they mite of sorted there act out.....MMmm maybe, best of all worlds, if not boating then off Down Wales Fishing Unless the boat is there haha

i noticed that after a while on there lol, i checked towards UK sites and the few i check matched up like Shoguns and Patrol`s

iveco daily , ran for 30 years everything from 35c models to 65 c, If you can sort your licence either 5 tonne , or if poss 6.5 tonne as this has a much bigger heavier back axle n brakes and rims so towing would be even easier , also they have a thicker heavier chassis , go fo three litre model, If you cant get license sorted go for 5 tonne and down rate to 3.5 ton gross , still be able to tow 3500kg , brilliant trucks , strong engines but rubbish wiring , check water resovoir in engine bay if its clear plastic and antifreeze can be seen to be bright colour blue or red probably ok, if its brown plastic head gasket /head gone or previously gone , be aware they run pretty darn good even with gasket going/gone.
most of all dont skimp on servicing , and do brake calipers(sliders) as they sieze for fun. only use genuine gearbox oil ...it makes a staggering differance. good luck with your seach , nice looking boat that .Enjoy !
