Not sure whether to put this query here or in the Brew Room. If it's in the wrong place, please move it.
I'm currently refurbishing a bunch of Lancia Beta brake calipers that I have in my spares stash, and despite my best efforts, two of the bleed nipples have sheared off. I've tried soaking them in heat from my Rothenberger torch with MAPP gas bottle and then drilling them out with LH drill bits, but they're still stuck fast. I did think about trying an easy-out on them, but I'm pretty sure that would fail badly.
Would it be possible to inject some concentrated acid with a syringe into the holes that have been drilled out, and get the acid to eat away the steel while not harming the aluminium of the caliper body? Is this viable, and if so what acid would I need? And (probably just as important) where would I get the stuff from?
