It is a very sad state of affairs when you can have a tyre with 1.6 mill of tread in the middle section that will pass a test (but has no grip at all on a wet road)

DVSA now lolThe laws the authorities come out with cause excessive costs fro the motorist, when the mechanics charge the motorist
If I were VOSA, I would add loads of things to the MOT test (mostly for motorbikes and lorry plating)
And remove somethings on light Class 4 car testing!

On my discovery, the cambelt failed... A previous owner had it replaced at the appropriate time by a land rover specialist. It was about 4,000 miles before it was 'due' again.

When I took it apart to fix it I found, inside the timing case:
