Universal spool gun?

I've sometimes looked at the welding he produces and had the odd concern but he is halfway through building a boat and I'm not so I say fair play to him and good luck. He seems to be a do-er and not a typer on internet forums like myself.

The welding in bare sleeves seems to be a common behaviour affliction in America and not just restricted to him, I blame American Chopper. I still think he is doing a good/effective job and the video documentation is great.

It certainly looks a cool project, there is no doubt about that, the other stuff he does and, the way work is conducted, is not something I would like our younger generation to aspire to.

Just spotted this new you tube video from welding tips and tricks and is probably the best video on spool guns. Also spoke to a couple of the shops that sell these universal spool guns and they said the only issues they have had is that they have a rechargeable battery in the gun that can fail if not used for a very long time. But they are apparently high quality, hence the price. The spool guns in this video are a similar price.
