Have you thought about using old 40' fridge units. Ten a penny![]()
If you are going to use a shipping container covered with insulation why would you need to fibreglass over it? Seems like an unnecessary expense and effort. The spray foam stuff would be plenty tough enough for use above or underground as long as you didn't throw large rocks against it whilst covering.well l have had a chat with a fiberglass man he thinks l am friut cake
cost is one stumbling block unless its made in small pieces that use the same mould and then bolted together afterwards but this has the downside of many seams each with potential to leak, a one piece tank would seem the better option
he seemed to be steering me in the direction of a shipping container as it wouldent need a mould at all, roll the shipping container over on to it roof insert 3" of styene insulation and then cover with glassfiber, roll it over on to its side and repeat etc etc, all doable by me in the yard
but he couldent get his head round why anyone might want to live underground at all and though above ground was a much better idea this led back onto ex railway carrigages something like this one:
i work for a transport company ,we have a couple of old 40' fridge trailers in our yard . Not sure who owns them but ive been there 7 months and they havent moved in that time . I will ask the boss what the story is ....
cheers mike
so, does that make the fruit cake official?
