Just after the last delivery of fuel oil (a couple of weeks ago), I noticed a smell of oil in the kitchen. I’ve just had a guy in to service the boiler and he says that’s fine. After I mentioned the recent tank top-up, he suggested that the addition head of fluid lead the failure of the (40 year old?) fuel delivery pipe. He noted that the pipe is not plastic-coated.
This is a new one on me. I’ll contact the local company that does tank installations and see what they think. The boiler guy suggested the house insurance would cover it, but that would surprise me.
Any advice would be appreciated.
