Is there benefit in those advertised as dual frequency, 28 & 40khz - vaguely described as 28khz for general and 40khz for precise?
@brewdexta, thanks for the introduction. I'm glad someone out there thinks I'm knowledgeable . It looks like my kind of forum.I've asked my neighbour to join the forum. He imports and sells ultrasonic cleaners and has been for a few years. He's knowledgeable and approachable, and a very nice chap. He was worried that he would be regarded as a spammer but I've told him that as long as he doesn't go on the hard sell and just offers advice he will be fine.
Discount for forum members?@brewdexta, thanks for the introduction. I'm glad someone out there thinks I'm knowledgeable . It looks like my kind of forum.
Your asking a Yorkshire man for a discount, I am surprised the naughty word filter didn’t kick inDiscount for forum members?
What did that cost?Bought this a while back, not used it yet but its big enough to drop things like a 4 barrel holley into.

Me?I think I read a post by @Mr Roo that was knowledgeable on US cleaners?
Just not clear on the virtues of dual frequency over set frequency, and guess the real boffins have variable frequency?
Is there benefit to dual and for what or is it a gimmick?
When it comes to size,, I will be keeping my wee 3L as its handy & less fuss for small bits
@8ob big is not always best -of course it is stupid boy
Yorkshire folk are not tight. I prefer the words frugal or careful. I've even had one of my pockets unstitched so that I can buy a round when the pubs reopen (but only for one day).Your asking a Yorkshire man for a discount, I am surprised the naughty word filter didn’t kick in

This is my first, half sensible contribution to this forum. My background is in supplying ultrasonic cleaners in the UK. I’m not spamming here, but simply passing on my modest experience in such matters.
Generally speaking, larger tanks (36 Ltr and upwards) tend to have a lower operating frequency which is more effective when cleaning larger items such as large engine blocks. A lower frequency of 28Khz is more aggressive and better suited to larger masses. 40Khz is preferable for smaller items that fit into benchtop sized machines. Typical uses for a 40Khz machine range from cleaning dental instruments and jewellery through to carburettors and engine casings.
Some of the cheaper dual frequency models found on eBay and Amazon are not always genuinely 2 frequency. They simply reduce the power supplied to the transducers so that they work at, for example, 50% power. It’s not a real change of frequency. A couple of years ago I supplied a few of this type to see how they performed. The results at the 28Khz setting were poor and I removed them from sale.
