Twin pumped showers, can I?

The tank is getting replaced (hopefully before it bursts out it's corrodered bottom) with a much bigger one, something like 200 -250 liters.
Before I can do that I have to install some 7x2" joists to support it all!
We had a Salamander 2 bar pump at the old house that was ok doing 2 showers together and I've picked up a second hand Stuart Turner one that I'm using as a temporary shower supply in the bathroom that I'm really impressed with, very powerful and much quieter too.
As I'm replacing the whole central heating system and all the rest of the knackered corroded bodged pipework its taking time and I have to also keep the house running while I do it!

A standard 450/900 holds about 117 litres, I think upto 450/1200 is still a standard size, other than that they are made to order

Who knows....

Thermal store works different, if you are going DIY I wouldn’t recommend it, same with unvented, you need to be qualified and registered to fit it

Its mainly DIY as I'm piping up as I lift floors etc but I'm having a plumber do the boiler replacement and probably the final connections to the tank.
I'm on oil so have been recommened not to have a combi boiler so a traditional vented system with header tank in the top loft space, this means I can have the pumped showers that SWMBO demands!
It also means I can do fault finding and repairs down the line as it's much simpler.

You can get vented thermal stores, it's what I have installed.

I always thought showers took less water than a bath. I have just luxuriated in a bath for the last hour using, at a maximum estimate, 35 gallons of bath water.

It all depends upon the shower, I find drowning is far nicer to pummeling so have a high volume/low pressure shower rather than a high pressure/low volume shower, the down side is the tank doesn't last that long especially if I select boost mode and get high volume & high pressure

Rob, fit two single ended negative head pumps, one for hot, one for cold. 3 bar salamander ones will be more than man enough
You'll need a big coffin tank, to feed the new cylinder. They're not the noisiest pumps on the market, just pipe eveything in 22mm..

Lots of arseing around measuring up to get the shower enclosure to fit in the small space etc.

Good stuff. Get all them pipes wrapped with foam insulation, use the thicker stuff if possible,

450x1850 18"*73" will give 210 litres in copper or stainless. Standard vented cylinder

I've spaced them so 19mm lagging fits and I'll also cover that with insulation when the eves space is done.
It's well off being filled up though...

Indeed, don't forget to fill the floor joist cavity with 150mm Earthwool, get that from Selco, it's a lot nicer to use than the other brands. Use the slabs in the studwork too..

Hmmm . It should be C24 timber...
It will be printed on it if it is.
If it's not, then it's got to come out and be replaced with the correct stuff. I would use 2 pieces of 4x2 gorilla glued and double screwed every 400mm

Did a bit of googling and found its a **Language**ing 8 quid Selco "incised fence post"! Can't find anything about what grade that is, I certainly can't find anything about it being C16.
It was specified to be C16!
That's getting changed
