Previous employer had one depot that just put their bulk oil into everything.
Guess one of the depots that had a large number of belt failures...
The internal warranty department put the liability from wrong oils being used into 7 figures, which quickly concentrated the minds of various managers, with a major drive to ensure correct oils were being used.
I think the dipstick was changed after about a year, so anything 2017 on should have had the yellow dipstick, and take about 9 litres of oil.
Certainly my last van, which was a 2017MY had the yellow dipstick, and I can't remember the last time I seen the old dipstick.
There was also the earlier 2.2 which came with different sumps, which resulted in many an argument with a certain leasing company, as they refused to belief that some vans needed ~7.5 litres of oil, instead of the listed 6.
I've not missed my transit, good luck with yours.
Re wet belts, niece has just had her Peugeot go back with under 30k miles on it with full pug service and correct oil and it's not stopped that from going, she wasn't aware it had a wet belt till the oil light came on.

It's surprising the number of individuals and workshops that still think oil grade and specification are the same thing.
I think it's the Dealerships that let Ford down.
Their vehicles are actually pretty good, as Ford do seem to address issues, but they seem to have a disproportionate number of dealers who seem incapable of actually fixing anything.
The dealer I've bought my last two vans from, are horrendous for actually getting anything fixed, and I'm not exactly impressed both vans have been given to me with outstanding recalls. I would have bought the last van somewhere else, but they were the only dealer with a suitable spec van in stock.
If I do get another Ford van, I'll drive the extra 30 miles to the dealer group who I use for repairs, as they're actually good to deal with and fix things.
No, they sell sh1t, no doubt about it. A 38000 mile should be barely run in (and it is, but it has failed). No dealer to blame, just poor design - whether that is down to inferior pistons, ecu's, injectors is anyones guess. But, my euro 5 timing chain engine is not a bad block, but everything else is rubbish. No dealer involved here, I wouldn't trust them...

Mannol is good. It is OE spec for some/most applications. Plus if you buy enough drums of it from one supplier - they have little loyality schemes for oil drainers/suction stuff/gear oil/drum pumps.
Proper savings stamps with pictures on them and bit of cardboard - when you fill the bit of cardboard up you get a free gift.
I stocking mostly Quantum/Castrol/Mannol in 208ltr drums and the real odd stuff I buying in 5ltr cans.
I try to avoid 20ltr cans of anything - they such a faff to use - tipping into jugs and the like - you spill more than you sell!

The main reason for products with poor longevity is accountant-led design constraints, Ford are not alone in being hamstrung by this, Mercedes, VWG and now Volvo are suffering (and have been for some time) reputational damage due to pared-down design & testing budgets, reduced material quality and assembly lines being moved to cheaper countries, the same goes for their suppliers, who have the same constraints imposed on them by the vehicle manufacturers.
With regard to dealers, I think a lot of places are struggling to keep the younger tech's interested and therefore gain experience and training - most Transits are sold by car dealers and there is little to no interest in working on vans. The place I used to work has 30 tech's, only three are 'transit trained' and two will reach retirement in the next eight years, the rest are predominantly 'filter spinners' and only interested in how much bonus they can achieve for the least effort, it seems to be that any diag of reported issues when a car is in for service is given the minimum attention then passed on to a more senior (both in terms of experience and age) when it inevitably comes back in when the concern re-occurs.
This is by no means unique to Ford dealers.

If you gonna service someones car the least you can do - is put the right oil in it.
So no need for a wet belt or a DPF fitler later.

Another thing I am anal about is inflating spare tyres when fitted. Yes I will empty your boot "of your life" - that you too lazy to tidy up/throw away.

Made to make leased vans appear cheap to run until they're out of warranty when Ford will no longer care. Seems to be the case with most manufacturers now, nothing made with longevity in mind, all built down to a price.

The proof of that is how many manufacturers have had to reduce the service interval time on oil changes and timing belts etc.
Alfa dropped the timing belt change in the 1.9 diesels from something like 90k to 45k, Vauxhall who use the same engine didn't bother...

Manufacturers can calculate oil life quite accurately, but when owners of the vehicle think that the headline figure is when it should be done, and don't actually get the service done when the vehicle tells you, there's only so much the vehicle manufacturer can do.
One of the things the manufacturer can do, is reduce the service interval, however in terms of fleets, 25k is probably around the max mileage you'd want vans serviced anyway to avoid further expensive repairs. I.e. despite all transits now having brake pad wear warning, drivers will still ignore the warning as 'the brakes still feel ok' and drive it until they hit metal. 25k is probably around the distance things like that could be caught for a typical van, whereas the previous 36k was probably too high, with the optional 18k inspection being too low.
