Tractor glass into metal frame - what adhesive

Does anyone know what the windscreen and glass guys use as adhesive to fix glass into metal frames? This is specifically for tractor door glass into the frame. There doesnt appear to be a rubber on whats there - the tractor is probably mid 80s.

you can buy the lot as a kit , the cleaner and the primer and the adhesive .
They even do the tube nozzles cut into the big v to suit too , Ive used it fitting flat glass side window kits to land rovers before.

That's what we usually do, you get a kit with the wire for cutting out old glass, cleaner, primer and glue.

Dinitrol do a fitting kit , couple of tubes of 500 bonding mastic , a cleaner and a pre coat thing about twenty quid , and follow the instructions , the pre coat seems to be the important one . The land rover kits came with great instructions and the windows are as good today as the day I put them in and there are no lips or recesses etc on the side of a landrover , its all just the glue and a fairly big chunk of glass.

I thought that but wasn't sure if any old silicone would do. Its for a friend so don't want to recommend something that will fall out!

I dont think normal silicone would do the job on its own , too flexi , may be sikaflex or tec7 but for the fear of what would happen if it fell out , go with the real thing , and get some spirit wipe as a cleaner for fingerprints before it dries.

it wont with clean metal .I silicone glass in to my blast cabinet and its a pig to remove it. glazing silicone

The side windows on out jcbs are just stuck onto the metal, there's no actual frame they sit into really so don't know if I'd trust normal silicone.

eBay failing any of the above, fitted a couple of windscreens myself (including removing ones out of a donor without breaking!) pretty easy really think it’s just a pu sealant

Sika P2G is a one tube wonder, no primers required...
Fitted some pretty serious glas with that.

Same as the Massey door glass, door glass went so ordered a new one. Our glass guy came out to glue it in and the new one went bang all on its own . Spoke to the glass supplier and he said they go bang on the shelf in the warehouse all the time, he sent out another one.

He was not happy

All our tractors don't even have a metal frame anymore, hinges and handles are just bolted straight onto the glass.

We had a Marina van, the drivers door glass had a habit of exploding every now and again. It went with some bang
