A lad I worked with did silage baling in his spare time using a MF. One day the tractor refused to go forward & he unhooked the baler & reversed the tractor the 10 miles home! It needed a gearbox ecu costing well over £1000 but he was quite good with vehicle electrics & he designed & built a box of standard relays & switches that replaced the troublesome gearbox ecu.
It worked very well & cost well under £100, after that he started buying up cheap MF tractors with gearbox issues, fitting his conversion kit & selling the tractor for loads of profit. He gradually built up the business, left his job & is now a Landini main agent!

Those days seem to be gone, the price of them now they're generally getting ran to higher hours, there's still a few who change at lower hours but they're often leased.
