Tractor driving one day course, tomorrow, advice?

It's less of a problem now anyway, since they have a really good exchange programme that saves the dealer having to strip the whole thing and buy a LOT of parts. Agco are actually very good at this sort of thing. I remember being really *annoyed* when the ECU on my bmw car and they wanted £800, when I knew that the retail price of one for a massey tractor was £150 and the dealers were paying £100, and that on a fraction of the volume that bmw have!

When I look at the money being spuffed up the wall, as now I'm doing the accounts, it's pretty shocking.
Since this 'rona thing, the towel for hand drying is obviously a thing of the past. Very sensibly.
A fortnight night ago, I noticed the paper rolls in the hand dispensers stock was low. I bought some big ones, but the spool in the middle was the wrong size...
Tried kitchen roll, didn't work.
Ordered a dozen rolls from our supplier.
140 euros?????? That how much a roll.
Thinking about putting 5 towels back in the kitchen on nails, with people's names above each towel, not like we're all touching the same door handles, kettle, etc, etc, etc...........

Was going to suggest 3 nail a longer bit of string = 2 roll 1 as spare but
Some cost analysis on the 2 nail saving + towel washing\ drying.

Every time I have driven a tractor on the road (and I have not done it many times) - the only thing I really noticed was the steering was not too positive and they wander about abit.

Plus mad car drivers overtake like they wanna die and cut in front of you trying to avoid a head on collision.

Our forestry orientated county was great in the forest, take her on the open road and she was terrible. Wandered everywhere, meet a car and everything got crossed. Great fun

[just a wee comment if I may re your comment about the difficulty in sorting your private life out, maybe look at tweaking the work : life balance a little more in your favour ]

Last time I drive a tractor was late 80s, an old Massey Ferguson and a Kubota, I expect they have massively changed since then

On the road, mine was a JD, talking it to Tain [14 miles] for an emergency repair, as our usual agent couldn't get to us that day and I could hear the grass on the course rustling as it grew . Worse driving experience of my life

Yup, I've experience of that - car had a parasitic drain on the battery if parked up for a few days. BMW had the car for a week tracking the fault, turned out to be a faulty 'module' the size of a paperback book....£508 for the part . These things are sent to try us.

All the dealers had laptops for programming different configurations, so they only needed to keep one ECU, which was common across the range, and if they ran out we could get pretty much any part delivered overnight, even if it had to go to the west of Ireland from Copenhagen, in the unlikely event that the UK and French warehouses had run out. That was fifteen years ago so I'm well out of the loop now, it would be interesting to know what they cost these days!

Just priced the main ECU for one of ours, £1099.91, theres 7 or so different controllers dotted about the tractor as well.
