He was given an eight-week suspended prison sentence and 60 hrs community service and a 3 year ban

truly a pathetic sentence indeed

that car driver is going to be scared for life with a nightmare

a wagon driver using mobile phone no death

A lorry driver has been jailed for three-and-a-half years after he collided with another vehicle while using his mobile phone

makes no difference both vehicles carry weight on them

the sentence is unfair and biased

That's not a tractor crash, that's an insecure load.

If he wanted it in the van he should have put it in before he left.

I remember seeing somebody crash a traction engine at a show.
Wonderful.
Chuggity chuggetty chug it was going as Junior was at the helm.
Suddenly the senior driver looked panicked and was fiddly fiddling and twirly whirlying bits and bobs as it slowly ploughed off target into a hedge.
A slo mo catastrophe. Shame it missed the line of badly parked cars

A few years ago at the South Cerney show someone rolled a traction engine going to the pub in the evening. I understood he pulled over to the verge to pass something & went too far. We stayed overnight at the show one year & there was a hell of a noise at about midnight, bar just kicked out & the steam boys were racing the traction engines down the field. “My injun is faster than yorn”

it's not a van, it's an f-150 with a matching fiberglass cap.
The truck has a bed, with a front wall, then 2" of gap, and then the back of the passenger cab (a crew cab in this case)
A van has nothing between the driver and the load.

I'm still amused by the racks of truck tops/canopies I see around the USA where someone has a business flogging second-hand ones. Not something you tend to see over here.

Even more amused the other day in Olympia - someone had a new pickup with a canopy from what looked like last century - it must have fitted width-wise, but it was considerably shorter than the bed
