Your tip could be recessed into the shroud. If it is get a longer tip or cut the shroud back. Really want it flush when using co2 and about 10mm from your work.
That's a damn god ... tip

Argon mix usually is ok not sure why someone with more book knowledge than me will probably explain more, something to do with short ark.How about argon mix? I'm sure my 151 is quite recessed into the shroud.
Same here matei noticed a difference when i went from argon mix back to plain carbon dioxide, ended up grinding the shroud back
Co2 is still way cheaper than volkzone deal. There's a couple of possibilities that come to mind:
1) CO2 may not shield as efficiently as an argon mix
2) A CO2 delivery system may not normally deliver sufficient gas to completely shield the weld puddle
I couldn't say which, if either, is the case, but since the Volkszone offer from BOC is so relatively cheap it's not worth the minimal savings compared to 'pub gas'. Just my 2 penn'o'rth so you can take it or leave it.

pub co2 = £8 no annual rental
Cost for year £8
Vs
Boc rental+gas+surcharge
Cost for year £62.23
If your only using 1 bottle a year
Very true argon mix is better but if you don't do a lot of welding you can end up paying more in rental. I use both myself but co2 can produce some very pleasing welds once you practice with it takes a bit more getting the hang of. But when you've got it isn't that much of a difference to look at. For hobby welding and learning, odd patch on car floor I would definitely go for co2. Plus co2 gives better penetration as a learner you are better off with uglier stronger welds as better looking with less penetration. Just my op tho cause I oxy acetylene most stuff.true, but you could argue that quality difference should be worth it? I use the BOC volkzone deal for me Argoshield light and consider the quality of the welds compared to pub gas to be worth the investment. I guess I come from an ethos if a job is worth doing then do it properly.
