Looks like the cracks have manifested from the holes, will this happen again once laminated.

only one of the cracks are actually at the bolt hole. The others are around the perimeter of the rudder box, not saying what you have noted is incorrect but i firmly believe that the poor layup with multiple voids and the actual lack of material in such a high stress part of the hull are the main reasons for the failure.
as for preventing a reoccurrence , I have ground the cracks too allow a better bond and the whole area will be built up from the nominal 9mm thickness to nearer 18mm, hopefully this will prevent it happening again at my repair point.
been working with these sort of craft for over 35 years now and this is the worst i have encountered.
last one i repaired with similar damage had been dropped from about 6 feet onto concrete !

Can you resin in a wood or metal spreader place to reinforce that area?

Occasionally when I come in there's a bit of litter outside the workshop. Just a bag, can or take-away box from some lazy scrote dumping it out of their window when they've finished eating and there was a carrier bag and a half empty bottle of pop this morning. So muttering about the youth of today and a few creative invectives I walked over to pick them up and stick them in the bin opposite.

I never knew that was your game...wish ide known you when i replaced a transom on a Ring 18 in my boaty days, its very twitchy when you see your boat with no rear end on it and your repair has to be able to hang 400kg of motor off it...

Fluid change time in the ultrasonic cleaner. Maximum of five cleans, £50:00 in powder and demineralised water per refill.

When I was playing with power boats, there was a spate of engine thefts….sthil saw the transom off basically.

Humanity as a species is doomed, I reckon a couple more generations and it's over.

Oh I don't know, I reckon a LR propshaft would stand up quite well. After all they're used to far worse vibration than the Ultrasonic generates and there's never any grease in the UJ's to contaminate the cleaner anyway.

That's the sad thing, the damage it does is permanent and made worse when combined with smoking weed all day.

Given the limited abilities they're starting with you'd think they'd do all they can to preserve what they've got.

The unfortunate thing (IMHO) is that it doesn't affect their fertility.

After trying a few I use Ultrocarb now as it gives the best results on carbs and small parts without being so harsh that it or discolours affects the metals/alloys.

Demilneralised water supposedly helps as it improves the cavitation, but the main benefit I've noticed is that the solution lasts a couple of washes longer using that when compared to tap water. The makers reckon Ultrocarb is fine with tap water, but I take the belt and braces approach on that.

The boat I had was in a dealers, he was selling it for me & a 40horse Merc disappeared. His insurance paid up & I was no worse off. The dealer did time for selling stolen goods a while after, the police quizzed me at the time as to how much I thought the engine was worth, perhaps they were suspicious already.

Outboards are pricey things and on the used market dont come with paperwork like used cars do. Wide open to abuse really. There were suspicions as a known dodgey bloke (reputation for nicked bike parts and later prosecuted) bought a boat, but nothing was ever proven. Some years later he made the papers for a knock on the door in the middle of the night to masked men.

Mostly, I have been making progress on the Norton 650SS engine, made all the happier by remembering where I'd put the three cylinder head holding down studs.
Tomorrow, I'll be turning up some bronze rocker spacers to replace the Thackeray washers.
Don't like Thackeray washers....

I'm using that at the recommended mix and it is turning the carbs dark grey.
I usually set it for 10 mins @70 deg.
