Something similar happened to me with some woodwork machines recently, I kept getting passed onto new contacts and companies. The price jumped from $500 for a spindle moulder and saw to $800. A quick check of the mobile numbers into Facebook never goes amiss as the monkeys had foolishly coupled their profiles with their phone number. I could see nothing of the sort of work they told me they did in their profiles, photos or information, so I think I correctly assumed they were out to scam me so I cancelled the arrangement. Sure enough text comes two days later, asking if I'm still interested and we can drop the price by $300 - no chance, if you can take that much of a hit then somethings not right, I believe they were selling stolen/abandoned gear and claiming it as their own. The spindle moulder was worth $2000 alone so as the saying goes if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Mrs TYA was told about my disappointment this morning and laughed.
But when I explained why the sale was stopped, she did give me some sympathy, then laughed again.

But she did make it up when she got home.
She brought me this.



I don't know if she is being kind or taking the micky.

Got some nice heavy duty machine handles from eBay. They are plain castings so can be machined to fit whatever.

I thought they were weight plates for a second. Having said that, weights would probably make pretty decent handles if you machine then up a bit.

If you are ever passing Keynsham then pop into the unit for a brew.

I haven't got any real use in mind, I bought 4 incase I ever need them.
One might find it's way onto the Y axis of my Cincinnati as it has a very roughly made replacement handle on it at the moment.
But I might end up machining one from scratch for that as they are deliberately off balance to allow them to remain still when power feeding.

Recently someone on here used old weights to make a dam good set of wheels for a stationary engine, a good job.

I did see, 2 years ago but did not get to involved (working and that) some old weights being turned down and made into flanges for a vertical steam boiler.
Wished I could stay and watched.

Last night in work I came across this parts washer that was tripping the power when the switch was getting wet (no **** sherlock) and getting binned so after confirming I could get a note to take it home I cleaned it up. Alright for free.

So. d'you have to have *another* parts washer to clean your dirty parts washer in?

Neighbour bought them, old boy passed away and his wife is having a clear out

Big one is braked, little one looks barely used. Gonna clean them both up and put them to work

as you all know now, I am not good at acquiring stuff on my own accord. However, between me and my boss, we have got our grubby mittens on a IRD B750 balancing machine... 34T capacity, 6m bed, refurbished a few years ago and only used 3 times since then.. $250,000 list price for a brand new one (this is as close to brand new as you can get).. we paid less than 10% of list price.

not a pic of the machine but the same spec one..

it's not going to fit in our workshop so it's off to a local firm who we are hiring some space off... anyone want to offer to shift it for us? Scotland to Liverpool..
