I've actually had this for a while now, (got it from a chap on Freecycle), but Gert got tired of having the pieces stuck in the living room, , so I've finally taken it out to the shed and reassembled it. Should save my books from getting dusty.

Picked up this 1977 Dolmar 152 (100cc) Monster with 36" bar yesterday - fitted a new plug, cleaned the carburettor and filters and it now starts first pull and runs like new. It makes the 16" 50cc Stihl 028 Super in the foreground sound, feel and perform like a fisher price toy and that's with a dull chain (I'm not looking forward to sharpening 100+ teeth).

A 30W LED floodlight from a skip, unsurprisingly didn't work but I did get a nice bit of plate glass from it, a cast metal junction box off the back which I'll keep for the future, and the wall bracket has been chopped up to be made into guard holders for my bench grinder. Oh, and some copper wire and some nice machine screws from it to boot. Not at all bad, even if it's not what it was built for

Open it up and you'll find the power supply will probably have lunched itself rather than the LED array failing; replacements can be got on a certain online auction site for cheap, or it can be run on DC if you have a suitable supply.

Nope it came with a pretty new Standard Oregon 59AC: http://www.oregonchain.com.au/59ac.htm
Until yesterday I hadn't paid much attention to the bar and chain I wanted to get it running right first. When I get around to a mill I'll source of a more suitable ripper chain of course.

I managed to pick up one of them Lidl electric chain sharpeners - clearly not designed for .404 chain but with a bit of patience actually did a cracking job. After checking on some scrap chains first I touched up all my other chains some 1/4 some .325 and some 3/8 and got the same result - best £20 spent for a while.

I have one of those in my Brownes Health steam shower. They do generate a good amount of steam. I find it's great for getting the black stains out of my pores when I've been working with cast iron.

Picked up a telegraph pole with these insulators on the end! Don't know what to do with them yet, but i just liked them, especially the colour. They have a date of 1948 on them.

I've got one of them but I can't get a decent consistency out of it, all the bits are too wobbly; I just use a stone in the dremel these days although I think I'll end up buying one of those posh grinders off Chainsawbars.
