My #1 does that but only if you rotate it in one direction, rotate the other way and it's fine.

It depends on which way you turn the pipe cutter as to whether you start cutting a thread. One direction is less prone to wandering off line.
I can never remember which way!

you do know that you can cut more than copper pipe with them

conduit pipe, thin stainless steel pipe, brass tube even exhaust pipe can be cut with them

I know, I use it for stainless / aluminium tube mostly, much more than copper / brass.
The cutter takes a bit of a hammering with stainless, I have thought of making some out of silver steel to see how they work out.

Any makers plate still on the gate? My uncle used to make and sell them world wide - bloke turned up from Germany once with a roof rack!

another freebie off FB,OFTEN wanted one but forget until I see one. The aluminium channel is for some galvanised doors Ive got on order,to avoid drilling holes in the vertical boards,promoting water ingress points,it’s 38/38/3 mm.

I never said you could only cut copper with them???



I use mine mostly for cutting stuff that isn't copper.

They are also quite handy for scribing a perfect line around heavy tube and bar prior to cutting it with a grinder.
