This turned up, this lunchtime. 
Seeing as most local UK shops source eventually from Chinese owned outlets , why not import yourself from the likes of AliExpress or Temu and wait almost the same length of time till delivery and not have extra local cost up to 120 % that does not give added value to the product .
You pay through the nose for the convenient UK shops & the like of Screwfix , Tool Station & Makita agents etc. I recently coughed up £408 for two 1/2" Makita battery drills , three batteries and one charger at local Makita dealership . On line in Temu or Ali Express it was just under half of that and included a tough knee high Makita carrying case. Though I'd have had to wait three weeks

And that is exactly why we will end up with no industry or shops in the uk. Tis a race to the bottom, which we as a country seem to be winning!
For anything of quality that is going to get used…I like a warranty even if it is made in the orient!
All industries go through price and manufacturing cycles. China has a labour cost far below what the trade unions in the UK can offer so companies either import labelled goods or go bust .
The same happened with our ship building and much of our heavy engineering , we could only produce at four times the cost of low labour cost countries and inevitably most things were invariably of poor quality , months or years late and badly made .
Look at the HS2 debacle as well , for it's a couple of buckets full of every problem mentioned and many more .
Ali Express is starting to enforce warrantees . If you have a problem get on to the AI problem solver /chat . I have had four £2,000 or so Robooter electric buggy false sales cancelled and money returned with compensation . The first onew I purchased has a 2 year warrantee .

Amazon & the like being a storage and fulfillment centres is how much of our being a nation of shopkeepers is heading . In their humungous warehouses they can store more per square metre than any shop and can do it to 25m or more high , then they use their own shipping systems to get it to you . Why would you go to a town or city and spend anything up to £ 19 to park in an inner city carpark for 2 hours or so and lug your shopping hundreds of yards back to your car ?

I do agree, but in days gone by shopping was a day out event to town. Now its get it as fast as you can then back to the couch and 88 inch tv eating takeaway delivered to your door!

I used the cheap ratchet in anger today, was servicing a polo: was great for spinning on and off the fasteners on the undertray and the air filter housing. Definately well worth the cost, it does not feel a particularly high quality tool, though it easily does the job I bought it for.

That's okay, turns out my dentist isn't that far way from you so next time I am there I will drop in and for the collective I snaffled a dozen eggs while I was there but there were a couple of very large hens giving me the up and down as I was snaffling them. I wouldn't like to think I upset them, they are BIG!

Cute little USB soldering iron.
I was after something cheap and portable for field work, rather than carting my expensive soldiering station around.
This Alientek USB unit seems well regarded and was fairly inexpensive shipped from Ali.
I can run it off my parkside power bank or with an adapter, my Hikoki power tool batteries, making it very portable.
It heats up quicker on a 100w charger, but even at 65W it isn't exactly slow and quite usable for small jobs, you can set the temperature, has three customisable presets and takes standard JBC cartridge tips.
I think this will come in very handy!

Where we used to live 1954 , a bus came once a week on a Wednesday 0845 or on a Saturday afternoon 1210 to a T junction four miles away ..no bus shelter , then on to Boston 10 miles or so away . It came back leaving Boston at 1645 hrs Wednesdays and 18.00 Saturdays .. miss either and it was Shankses Pony home or biycyles there & back with a kiddy ( me in the baby seat onthe back of Mums bike ( or a " Croggie " on dad's bicycle & hope a policeman didn't stop us . We didn't manage to do much shopping other than to buy big blocks of salt for salting the pig in December .

Mine's auto so no clutch to worry about. It's just a solid reliable car and it's served me well.
Tyres are expensive though, €900+ for a set of 4.

Honestly I'm still regretting to have sold it
It wasn't in pristine condition, it had some bodywork to do but it was still not an aluminum shell.
I remember once getting off a wedding, a friend of mine on Ford Focus tried to race me I just left the throttle cause it was still spinning the tires in third gear from 60 to 130 in few seconds.
Mine born with 150HP, but I think the guy my brother has bought it from had a map on it.
You could ear the turbo sucking in a bunch of air.
Great engine.
Don't tell anyone but the car enthusiast in me realized that it was too much power.
The same guy who wanted to fit an Alfa Mito 1.4 T-Jet 155HP with its gearbox on a 500kg Fiat 126.
That car scared me and made me learn to not pull too much the rope
