How To Machine Tufnol

Every so often a Tufnol job will land on your desk and machining this old school dusty stuff can present its little challenges. Well recently we managed to get our hands on an old brochure made back in the 90's, now although the pages had now gone that slightly yellowy colour around the edges...

So much easier to pick it up, flip it open and read the info you need.

I was thinking more of the fact it's not an easy book to come by so making a digital copy would save it for anyone in the future trying to find the info and if the book gets damaged you're still good.

Its that difficult to come by, it's even on Amazon! Admittedly at some stupid price. Mine as £1.99 25 yrs ago . . . and then the machineshop chargehand said he would have got me one for nothing from one of our suppliers - plenty of suppliers used to hand them out as freebies.

It's on my desk for fairly regular reference.

Acquired the knowledge that a 5/16-24 unf helicoil insert tap is actually just a slightly undersized 3/8-24 unf tap so worked perfectly for cleaning up the rusty mower blade shaft threads :laughing:
