I was trying to fault find something for a mate the other day, and was thinking aloud "a clamp meter would make this so much easier"...

Turns out he was given one at some point but had no real use for it, so he gave it to me as thanks for fault-finding his problem.

That's a very good price...main issue I've had is the screws holding the jaws often come loose. The other obvious issue is having the lever on the back is a bit illogical!

Mine do that on my small-throat ones. I've welded washers onto the jaw retainers on the stretcher, keep meaning to do it on the shrinker. I expect there's a reason the retainer is slotted, but on my deep throated one, they're not slotted, just have holes so they can't come undone.

I don't normaly post a today I acquired post but i pushed the boat out today and spent more than I should of

I've finally upgraded my jewellery cleaner for carbs and small bits been after one of these for 10 years and never bought one as the price as it had a jewellery cleaner that done the job and to be fair to it done meny carbs and worked well but a local shop had it and it's more than I'd like to have payed but a early morning at 4.30 this morning and could not go back to sleep I went to work for half a day so a bit of extra few penny's earnt I spent

Today I renewed the VED on our EV....the VED isn't due until Sept 2025 but I decided to pay another £0 to renew it early for another 12 months given that the price increases to £175 per year from next month!

I think we will hand the car back in April (PCP) so we didn't actually save anything on VED but I still found it quite satisfying.

A rather interesting fly press- Norton #2 originally seemingly- but now powered by a rather large Pneumatic ram. Tested by applying a bit of air to ensure it moves (It does) so need to work out how best to rig it up and recommissioning it.

I've not had a proper chance to look yet (FBMP Purchase 125 miles away, and only got back late last evening, so no real time to examine it) but it appears there are 3 bolts each at 120deg which must secure it to the top collar somehow.

Mate's son just passed his apprenticeship, employer gave him a tool budget to replace all his test equipment with fancy Fluke gear that connects to a tablet.

So I bought his old MFT off him for effectively beer money.

It's still in calibration for the next 6 months, but for my purposes it doesn't really matter.

Basically with us selling the house and it being old with an unusual electrical setup, I want a recent, clean EICR before it goes to market.

Rather than have one done, find multiple faults, then pay the sparky to fix it in a hurry, I would rather:
- do the same testing they would do in advance,
- fix any faults (within my range of capabilities and time/resource availablity),
- pay a sparky to do any repairs that are beyond me, then do the EICR.
