Myself and my brother used to play see how long you can hold onto it when we were younger!
Replace all electronics with a frequency controller?Acquired a little while ago courtesy of @My Old Landy (Thanks again) but got to use it for first time today and it was beyond useful. Have managed to determine our centrifuge is going to the big lab in the sky. It is giving a no speed sensor error. Using the scope I have been able to check the sensor(fine), analogue signal (fine), digital signal (fine). Basically signal is absolutely fine all the way to main processor. Have also checked clock signal and supply voltages all fine too. Problem must be internal to the chip. No parts available as this was built in the early 90's and is long discontinued. Time to drop a few ££££ on a new one.

While that would get it spinning the problem is it has to maintain a set rpm within a very tight tolerance. Specs from manual are 100 to 14000 rpm with a tolerance of +-5 rpm across the range. The board also controls the refrigeration unit at the back of the machine, soft start, electronic braking, run timer, and safety interlocks. You can also program it to run x speed for x mins then y speed for y mins then z speed for z mins all automatically controlled. Getting a new board and everything set up to run it to the standard that we need would take ages and since we use it every day it makes more sense for us to get a new one which will be here by the end of the week.Replace all electronics with a frequency controller?
