I once found a complete, unused 14" Tilley paraffin spotlight from the 1940's. Put it on eBay and it went to Australia to add to a guy's collection of lamps, he was a collector and member of the lamplighter's guild or something and it was to be the pride of his collection. He asked me to spend whatever it required to get it to him undamaged so I bought a £40 triple-thickness cardboard box and a full roll of buble wrap, and it did indeed make it half way round the world undamaged.

In retrospect I maybe should have kept it because I bet if you scoured the world over you wouldn't find a second one which had never been lit and still had the protective tissue in the gaps of the 3-piece front glass.

It turns out Gear Acquisition Syndrome is a serious thing! Luckily it's all eBay bargains so I'm feeling pretty smug.




Benro Carbon fibre tripod, opened but never used. Canon FD 35-105mm "Macro" lens. I was hoping it would be good for scanning film, but it only does macro at 35mm, and it doesn't focus close enough for a 35mm frame to fill an APS-C sensor. It should still be a decent lens for not-macro things though. And a Tiffen 77mm Variable ND filter, I had assumed a reputable brand like Tiffen would be truly neutral, but turned up to 8 stops it looks pretty blue to me! I need step up rings and a shutter cable before I can use it now.

So 15m h05rvv 3g1.5mm² cable not even sure if I bought this kind of cable ,is just to proceed with tools repairs in economy (cheap)

Those became the 2 adapters you can see in the pictures (Italian to cee ,cee to Italian+euro)

Bought this on Friday ,a brand new Metabo drill with futuro top precisión Chuck , it's from 2000 ,so hopefully higher quality than newer models , never even used it looks perfect

That's the problem! I went to buy a shutter cable and somehow I've ended up buying macro bellows. It does come with a dual cable release though...

I’ve struggled to find 100mm discs before,especially in date,Oxford welding supplies had loads.
No 1 compressor needed topping up,first time since 1988! Should I really have changed it by now?

Another Fakita saw, but this time with a brushless motor, which will hopefully last and perform a bit better.

I am not expecting it to have that much power but it seems ideal I think, for cutting through russian vine/ivy and small branches while climbing.
Motor claims 750w, so about half that of a ms201 petrol saw.. but about third of the weight too!
I note it has no chain brake

Yes, and behind that is a black plunger for a manual oil pump yes I knew, it will likely get modified (if the motor is any good), else its was on prime and will be returned if the motor is rubbish.

I had sold on my cheap air cut off wheel a couple weeks back.

And got better ones now that I have a 200L decent compressor



Haven't tested these yet as it was too late tonight. But they both feel really nice quality. Light and small will be perfect for working around rusty cars.

The cut off wheel has a reverse function also so you can ensure the sparks are directed into your face at all times.

Sink full of ice.



Had to do an emergency defrost of the freezer.



The door did not close, enough for the magnet seal to latch but not fully.

Came down to a wet floor and a iceberg in the freezer.

We had that in the garage chest freezer a few months ago on a late Saturday afternoon ... unplugged it & let it almost fully defrost . got it de-iced and the dam thing died . time 18-00 hrs
AO got us another one for siting in the garages and delivered it 13 hrs later on the Sunday morning at 07.00 hrs Nothing had defrosted much as I'd wrapped everything up in two old double quilts inside the chest freezer .
