Thanks for the link, that settles it, a fake, but for the price I'm not worried. When I purchased it I knew there was a reasonable chance, it was 9 quid before postage so guessed it could be dodgy. Interestingly I can now open a case with AliExpress and probably get a refund, they will probably want the DTI back I guess. Not sure I can be bothered to do it, too busy.

A Mitutoyo 513-404 metric lever DTI. Normally about 60 odd quid. 17 quid including delivery via Ali Express.

Why something supposedly made in Japan was nestling in a warehouse in China is debatable. Nothing on the QA sheet.

So not sure its pukka but if it's not then it's a very good copy and for my usage I would never pay 60 odd quid.

It would be interesting to compare it with one from a Mitutoyo dealer to see if it is genuine as I can only compare it with ones on-line.

That document should help ID fakes...for a while at least.
It's also a good set of guidelines for the imitators to make more realistic fakes.

Please note that the page where it is quoted is already from 2013 - so they had time enough to improve the fakes ... but there is a regulator: the price.

At some point, improving the fakes simply becomes too expensive to be worth it.

But that's ok, if I decide of my own free will to buy a product made of Chinesium, so be it - I'll only get really ****** off if I spend real money and get fakes - so we should all take care of a little "product hygiene" ....

Probably not enough buyers are aware of the ID document to cut significantly into their sales of fakes...at least not yet. Posts like yours can help spread the word.

3 X 250-101 tool holders from eBay. £38 the lot.
Absolutely useless.
When I pull the clamp lever up tight on the qctp tool post, the holders are loose and rattle.
I've a dozen of these Chinese holders, they've always fit my post just fine. Sometimes just needing a tickle with a file or stone if a little tight. Usually a burr. Never had loose one's though.
Asked for return and refund.
I got my last 3 from Amazon £16 for the lot, that all fit fine, after a tip off from @Kram on here. Should have bought loads!
