Have you run into any issues with importing? I've been tempted to buy a couple of things off amazon japan, but I suspect the VAT and customs charge on them would be extortionate.

Cut them in half turn a point on the blunt end with a grinder on them in the lathe or in the drill chuck and sell him a full half sized set ?

Today I acquired a brand new Lenovo Fo 5G Windows 11 stand alone computer just for using with my 3D drawing and printing. Having spent t6he last 1& 1/2 hrs. trying to get it fired up I'm losing the will to live .
It's all to do with needing ( or so it seems ) to have a Microsoft account
I have details I've written down from years back but I no longer have that email addy, it ceased to be in use over four years ago.

I also have three alternative email addresses that appear to all be tied back to the unused email address . . I thought I'd accessed the account on my new smartphone but it does not recognise the number , neither doeds it regocnise the last three emails I sent almost a year ago ( don't usually do emails as I'd rather do face to face or as a last resort .... a phone call .)

I think the easy way out might be to see if I can set up a totally new account and re set everything that uses the Microsoft monster with an up to date email address , though I'm not sure if they will treat my email addresses which are children off my wife's main email address as valid or just keep sending me round in ever decreasing circles till I disappear up my own orifice .

I read one of the help hindering advice notes that say's " If you have dual corroboration aspects you cannot close an account " ... I've been to sleep several times this last four years and haven't a clue as to if that applies to me.
I'll sleep on it all and obviously take on board what alot of you guys might be offering before I give it another go tomorrow morning.

Funnily enough I got a new Dell laptop last week...i also needed a Microsoft account too which I thought was really odd. Its like the operating system is linked to my Microsoft account...haven't had time to look into it but definitely something has changed in this version.

This was a kit from Nik and Trick, which doesn't include a stop bath for some reason, but is everything you need to develop B&W film. Except darkness, they'd sold out of changing bags.

No real logic to my film selection, Superpan has some infrared sensitivity so that sounds cool (Rollei Infrared was sold out), Delta 3200 is obviously much faster, and Shanghai GP3 is cheap, FP4, Delta 400 and HP5 (Which I seem to have lost already) are just bog standard B&W, no idea how they differ, I just picked what I'd heard of.

Changing bags , make your own out of back to back thick velvet , the bigger the better up to about 2 foot square with elasticated sleeves . cuffs at two adjacent corners
In our club we used to have a load of the old fashioned bottle & can openers to take the cap off the canister of film .

Stop baths can be black plastic seed trays , do you have any safe lights ?

I thought about making one (Or asking mum to do it), but you can buy one for less than twenty quid, you'd probably pay more for the material.

I meant no stop chemical, not the bath itself, I've got the tank to develop negatives and won't be doing prints (yet) so don't need trays. I don't think you strictly need the stop, as long as you thoroughly wash the developer off before fixing (or maybe my first roll will be a disaster). I don't have a safelight, it wouldn't really be very useful if I'm not tray developing, and all the film I've bought is panchromatic anyway, so the light wouldn't be very safe.

I used to have Paterson developing gear back in my teens - another hobby that when I had the interest, I didn't have the funds. Now I could buy anything I want, I've lost interest. Same with ham radio, astronomy, cars...
I was at school with a guy who was into photography. Last time I saw him ('82?) he was wearing a khaftan, carrying an old Nikon and coming out of the local park with a girl who, I presumed, had been 'posing'
Now he's world-famous (sort of)...

Back in the day, I took CSE and O-level photography and learned how to process films in school. Because they never had any, we never stop bath for films or prints - just a good rinse in plain water.

I've had the same - it's somehow more fun when you have to save up for stuff. I used to collect records by a certain band, and there were some "holy grail" items that were massively expensive back then, whereas I could just about stretch to £7.99 for a Japanese import album. All through my working life I'd have been able to buy any of the really rare things, but it just wasn't the same. With the benefit of hindsight, of course, I wish I had as I see things that were massively expensive then selling for incredible amounts now. Oh well, best not to think about it.

Here they have already shown a set for threading, an American company. Looked for this one. I believe Makita ordered under her own brand. Not all holder sizes are available, but enough for me. The knurling tool is new, never saw work and was not clamped in the tool holder. Small rust spots, easy to remove.

I have one here you can have for the postage costs, left over from the days when I had my own darkroom setup. In the last few years it's only been used when folk would bring me their camera to remove a film cassette.

Iirc, there's also a tool for retrieving the end of a roll of film which has been wound fully back into the 'can' which you can have if it's any use to you (and it will be, too ).

Have a Google for Nova deep printing tanks, great for developing prints, and the design saves clearing up after each session. (pricey though....)

I've been into film photography for a few years now. Picked up an old box brownie at the local tip for 50p and ended up spending a fortune on more old cameras, gear, etc.! Anyway, I've never used stop bath - just relied on washing it thoroughly and haven't noticed any problems as a result. I wash the film using the "Ilford Method" which is quick and easy.

Once mixed, your Adofix fixer can be reused for several films, although it will gradually start to take longer and longer to work. Most developers are single-use, but I haven't any direct experience with Hydrofen. For the last couple of years I've been stand-developing using Rodinal at 1:100 for extra cheapskate and laziness points!
