£50 isn't bad considering just the two 12mm end mills would have set me back £80-90 retail...

Tried to look up the origin of the word. OED needs a login, and I couldn't be ar3d finding a library card, but Dictionary.com seems to think it comes from virioka "small bracelet", which at least is logical

The OED concurs. I bought a set about a long time ago, someone was selling them stupidly cheap. All 20 volumes, a lovely sight.

Made under Vonhaus / Vevor etc, its all the same PRC thing.

Got all manner of bench grinders / sanders but not a belt jobbie to put edges on things & sharpen. Don't have need or space for a real one.
just put some edges on things and first sharpen of a few knives, cleaned up some bits and I'm happy with it.

It's pretty quiet and mostly made of metal, I've taken the backplate off so I can lean on the belt a bit better, with the top guard off get about 150mm of belt face

looked around for a while for an older/used one of a smaller footprint. Nothing - please don't post now a sale iv'e missed
I've taken the disk rest off to save space, never going to use it, I've a better one on a larger machine.

Belts it came with are rubbish, thanks for the tip on ceramic, will be looking tomorrow.

I acquired today:

More chips, still in compressed form.

Quite annoyed by constantly tearing emery paper - especially when water or oil is involved - I asked myself what actually happened to the good old emery cloth ... It's still available, but not in every DIY store and not cheap any more.

I have extended my ER40 collet set upwards to 30mm - but I am sceptical about the quality .... We will see...

Because you always want to be more precise and the opportunity came up to do some hand reamers ...

... and some machine reamers on top of that.

For a concrete project and, of course, because - some spot facing cutters (is that even the right word?).

My threads are getting bigger and I've reached the limits of what a normal tap for the small lathe can do - now this one for pitches 3-6mm (what a clunker).

And finally a thread file - I've needed this is way longer than I've known there was such a thing.

A pair of work gloves to try out also came along - too big though.

A colleague of mine must have shares in the companies that make those - he's unable to design anything that is is held together with cap heads without counter-boring everything . . . just no need in 99.8% of occurances.
