Today I acquired some professional graffiti.
I'm having a knee op today and the surgeon drew this on my leg!

I had that on my ankle when I had it done a couple of years ago. Does make you wonder how many times they operate on the wrong limb

Still too tired to do anything for long in the workshop, so a spot of retail therapy was in order. I ordered these a couple of weeks ago, they should fit nicely in my dad's old 5" grinder for tungsten sharpening.

And I thought I would try out a standard gas lens, if it let's you poke out your tungsten a bit more and save a bit of gas it can't be a bad thing. I avoided all the "special" lens kits with pyrex or other special shroud bits, especially the one called Mooseknuckle, I hate products that are 90% marketing, especially when you look at the price. I just got a pair of each tungsten size gas lens collet bodies and a pair of each size ceramic lenses from 5 to 8.

I saw one where they had drawn the arrow pointing at the knee for surgery but the guy having it was missing the other leg not possible to do the wrong one in his case

For the square .... North to south on the table , centrally along a finely pencilled line to check bubble is central rotate the square180 degrees it should be still showing central , do the same east to west . If needed shim up the table frame to get it level . Strips of coke cans are often a quick trial thing .


If it is the box measure the diagonals and sides , once all sides are pushed home 7 still glued wet using a ratchet strap pull it tight the diagonals should be exactly the same length

Pythagoras :- In a right angled triangle the square of the hypotenuse ( the longest side ) equals the sum of the squares of two adjacent . ( measure accurately the two adjacent side add & square )
Take the square root of the that longest side divide by two will give you the precise diagonal

There are no problems with the repair of the box. About 15 years ago, I was good at restoring antique weapons, broken stocks, losses, chips.

I can see that the edges of the frame level have signs of wear.
Checking granite plate available.

I will be able to check the contact faces for paint (the scraper is waiting for work). How to check that the level has 90 degrees on 2 sides of the square... In thought.

If your very careful wont need to harden them if your just marking engineers blue , then take the part off and proper center punch as they save to keep your locating ones good and sharp.

But I agree with what brad said for the whole set you can't even make them for that price in steel most likley

Just use drill rod for the points and mild steel for the rest.

Watch out for shortness of breath , loads of fine white frothy milky sputum , chest hurting , feeling faint & a lump in either groin , seems you have a fair chance of getting blood clot after such an operation . Mine was close to being fatal , it appeared almost three weeks after the event . Nobody told me of the common blood clot risks or what the symptoms were .

Would a double roller bearing aluminium or brass roller substitute work as a very temporary on hand spare part till you can get the OEM ?

It might even be better ?

Looks a simple bit but iirc it's sandwiched between two concave discs which are on an axle connected to a star wheel and pressure keeps it centred in the discs also friction against the knotter trigger arm drives the arm upwards against it to the trip point. It doesn't rotate on the axle itself so a roller bearing would be no use. I tried a few different things including an internal part of a bearing some plastic beading and a part roll of gaffer tape but none of them worked.

Now then who knows their right from their left?
Easy really but remember the one with the knife in their hand is looking at a mirror image of their right and left. Better safe than sorry or should that be better safe than lame in both legs.

So its this, the part I showed the picture of is sandwiched between those 2 big washers on the left of the shaft, as the hay is stuffed into the chamber it turns that big angry spiky wheel that turns the shaft and the roller im replacing, the arm above it is tight against the roller so as it turns it lifts the arm up, when it reaches a set point your bale is done, the problem is the friction between the roller and arm or lack of friction so hope fully this should sort us! every year I keep looking at it thinking of betters ways to do it but you need a field of hay to test the ideas!

some little giant steps from SF been wanting some for quite some time but not at the normal price ! they were on special + extra 10% with the app . Well built and double as a sml ladder

before he pays out I ask for a mooch of whats lying around , the red oxide bit is solid 40 x 40 I may use it for hitting stuff ! some 2mm sheet pieces and the toothy stuff is 6mm thick and a few bits of tube. I could have a field day but never take the pee as he never knocks anything of me weigh in for what I take Nice bloke and we always have a chat about the state of country.
