I have never heard of a Finn living outside Turku or Helsingfors who has had firewood delivered to him.
Was the winter so much colder than usual for you?

December was the coldest it had been in decades, down to -25C at times, been burning a lot more wood this year than usual.
Having firewood delivered home is not that unusual here, and this will be faster & easier.
My dad had 10 cubic meters (a tractor wagon load) delivered last time.

I called in to a firm I used to work at a few years ago to raid the scrap bin, asked the guys in the office for permission.
So after 10 mins of skip diving the spoils of a quick visit.
There was another 2 piston shafts that I couldnt bring home, just to big to lift and fit in the disco, both were 7ft long x 3 inches diameter, might just have to hitch up the trailer possibly....

A firepit for £18 'ish, delivered, from Banggood. Came within a couple of days. As the Covid ridden teenager was sat in the garden recuperating / "getting fresh air", I gave it some tools:

The piston rods are decent material, once you are under the chrome, they turn and weld nicely.
The cylinder tubes again weld nicely and can be used for press tooling.
Basically all the main materials in Hydraulic Rams are worth keep as stock for general engineering and turning, I go skip diving to acquire cheap/free stock material. Yes sometimes you have to turn good stock into swarf to get what you need, but its free so why worry.
Just don't think you're ever going to cut a piston rod with a hand hacksaw...
Hydraulic ram re-manufacturers have loads of decent scrap metal, I've seen a 6 inch diameter by 3ft long rod dropped in the skip, because the chrome surface was scratched, if you have a lathe and want free stock......

I have acquired a very nice motor switch, could have been attached to a Myford Tri-Leva ...
Movably mounted about where you can see it in the picture above (of course not on the table, that will be gone), should save me bending down to the current switch in the base cabinet, which will be quite a relief, the setup and thus the machine has grown quite a bit above the base cabinet in the meantime.
And finally an independent 6" four-jaw chuck from Burnered with Myford adapter plate, as my little Myford came with a half-broken dwarf four-jaw chuck with which nothing useful can be done.
The first cleaning and oiling cycle is complete and the jaws are starting to move quite nicely, but that will get better too.

Suspension dampers are a descent source of lovely rod too...I have a nice stock of rods that I've kept. They come in very handy for making hinges too for things like sheet metal folders.

Anyway, today I got this in the post, less than £10 delivered..
Will temporarilly replace one of the lost wheels on my mill. But how can they do this for such a low price?

I should add I'm not from Turku but further north, south of Vaasa.
Indeed, but needs must sometimes. I am planning to cast a pair of my own, larger diameter for the table, so one of them will replace this.

Yeah finnish is the language I speak most poorly. I hear more russian, bosnian or vietnamese on an average day where I live, that is in addition to the main language here which is swedish.
