I put antique diestock into my search engine thought I'd found a spanner type but elsewhere it has two legs , is there any chance that the other leg has been ground off & was polished to suit the rest of the housing?
Are your DE search engines liable to turn up something if you search for the technical German name equivalent ?

I'm pretty sure this part came from you over there:

- The ornamentation of the logo, we are not playful enough for that;

- If it goes into the area of old die holders, then in that period they looked something like this with us:

- If, in the days of my first apprenticeship, an apprentice who held the die-holder with only one hand risked whistling, then there was no such thing as a one-legged German die-holder in the period to which this piece belongs;

- This piece was always one-legged, nothing is milled away:

- That piece is much too nice;

- The screws in the head are 1/4"-20tpi - Now, finally, no more suspicion falls on us!

I wonder if it is a holder for a die that is being used as a thread chaser on long full thread rods for I can't imagine that anyone could successfully cut a good thread on plain bar/rod with an unequal pressure on the diestock /holder . Another thought I just had is that perhaps the die & stock holder are held rigidly in a clamp and the almost finely finished rod is turned through the die using a drill or lathe of some kind , that might result in a fairly good thread on certain metals.

Interesting that one side has been turned to a true circular boss , thinking cap back on ?

I also think that the fact that I found the holder with a male threading die in it doesn't necessarily mean that the part was intended that way....

I have seen a die holder like theis where the middle screw was a thread with a pint on the end of the handle. It was home-made but it must have been done more than once.

yesterday I acquired a van load of 100 yr old ish pine

from a building built in 1912 all roughly 80 x 85 mm ish



i've de nailed a lot of it and somes gone for firewood , my mate being lazy chopped it all around mid height so no long lengths .
would make great bench legs / frames . I've nothing in mind for it right now but I know these reclaimed furniture nutters like it ,I may try and flog some
but it probably end up as fire wood . In fact some of the small pieces are on the fire now it does burn well.

A portable 13" display. A bit of an impulse buy but will be useful for travelling for showing videos from my phone, plus various workshop tasks. Here it is in its main home at the electrickery bench.

It's in danger of slipping off the shelf, I was going to add a bit of wood the shelf to make a lip then remembered some old knife magnets ejected from the kitchen when we refurbished it. Handy for small tools and screws when taking stuff apart.

Its got a fixed resolution of 2560*1600 so a bit hard on old eyes from the command line. But once you have changed font size it's better.

It has two usb type c and mini hdmi inputs and13" IPS screen. It's only 13mm thick and comes in a flip case that forms a stand. Dave's me messing with the PC on my desk and stops my desk getting covered in half finished projects

I like that, where did you get if from?

I have a similar one but it only has usb c, so only good for the laptops and not if I can't ssh into a pi for some reason

That's why it's called ash wood ..

Have a good check of any you want to bring indoors and treat any wood worm or other problems whilst it's out in the shed .
