It also shows how ridiculously cheap shipping is (in bulk). I read an article a few years ago about it and it's frightening how little it costs and how easy it is for companies working in bulk stuff to ship stuff round the world. One of the big frozen fish companies was buying fish that was farmed in Scotland, shipping it to China to be filleted and then shipping it back again (and of course marketing it as being local fish as it came from Scotland) - the shipping cost was negligible and the labour cost for filleting was so much cheaper that it was worth it.

Some relief from a boil that suddenly appeared on Sunday and has been festering all week. It started to go nasty after I gave it a bit of a firm squeeze and a load of gunk came out smelling like a blocked drain. I've put up with that until today, so I went to a walk-in centre and waited 3 hours only to be told they couldn't deal with it as it would involve local anesthetic and slicing it open. Off to A&E with a letter from the doc's, another 3 hours sitting around, luckily I brought a book. Then I got to see a very pleasant lady called Kim who stuck the anesthetic in and sliced it open and dug out all the gunge, that girl has some strong fingers and a strong stomach, that stuff stinks, a bit of a long boring day but the end result is worth it, thanks NHS again.

I'm not sure if I want to know where this boil was located

Reminds me a comment our neighbour in the Highlands made when both of us had to attend a Deer Management Group meeting. Some estates were saying they were still keeping cattle off the hills to allow the heather to regrow.

Not any more.
Containers from the Far East used to cost about $2000 only 2 years ago. Today's rate is around $16000! Air freight is also up 400%.
Then you have a huge shortage of drivers to get the containers out of the ports here so the prices have shot up.
It's so bad now they are putting army drivers on standby to prevent food shortages.

Boot fair find this morning. Bullfinch torch and a nearly-full bottle of gas for £15. Handy for me as I'm going to need one in the next few weeks to replace some felt.

Seller said that people had been offering him £8 and then walking away. I didn't haggle just grabbed it and went.

In answer to the question of where on your arris was the boil. The boil was located at the top of my back between the shoulder blades, so nowhere remotely embarrassing chaps.

The grinder is AEG and the planer is the exact same one I already have which I think needs a new bearing as it's making a funny noise. Lots of decorating bits and pieces plus tool hooks and fixings. Plus a telescopic gutter cleaning wotsit which he said he used once but got drenched.

I thought it was just an unbranded one at first but father-in-law is a retired fitter so usually buys decent stuff. I turned it over and saw Atlas Copco on it and an AEG badge.
