Lens upgrade arrived today...this one has their true-view technology ...so now I have zero excuses for bad welding. View area is also a lot larger Vs standard. I'll keep the "old" one that's never been used as a spare I think.
I've also gone and bought the 3m grinding helmet.....the welding helmet has a flip front for grinding.....but I can't be using my nice welding helmet for that if I'm crawling around under the car I could smash the lens I think when it's flipped...grinding helmet is cheaper than the true-view lens!!!

I went all in and got the kit bag too...for the sake of £60 it's pointless having that helmet kicking about getting damaged....seems a shame to get it all dirty....it's so clean at the moment

I'm now eating into next Christmas I think....that's definitely it....no more shopping for me I think!
Well I didn't want to do grinding in me new welding helmet and getting the clear visor all messed up!
The missus asked if I had bought a rebel X-wing fighter to go with it....I think thats a strong hint that I need to stop spending on tools!

Very nice to use was grinding rust off with a wire wheel so very dirty and dusty job the visor stops the wire smacking my face and a nice cooling breeze frm the fan after filtering out the dust which also kept the shield from fogging up , if you have it on with no fan it wants to quickly fog up but the fan clears it up.
I assume the 3M one will be the same if not better

That's exactly what I got it for....the Figaro project needs a load of paint and rust removing and it's very dirty work with a wire wheel...I wear glasses and I find it really uncomfortable wearing a dust mask and shield together....gets frustrating very quickly and also I often find myself doing stuff and not wearing the right protection. In the winter with the doors closed the garage fills with dust really quickly....not pleasant at all I think....gets everywhere.
The 3m one plugs into the adflo air pack that came with the welding mask so it's all on the same system....

Both I think....last 3 days down the garage all I did was wire wheel on rusty steel...the dust that comes off goes everywhere and its dirty work when you are stuck under the car doing it. The cost of the dust helmet is a lot less than the welding helmet so makes sense not to trash the welding kit I reckon doing dirty work...the lens on the welding helmet was mega money and with the flip front up it'd be very easy to bash and crack it I reckon.

One (US) gallon water bottle! It was a free gift for spending so much at MyProtein. Who needs that much water at a time!

If the local pub was still open, I know a couple of alcoholics that would love to have one of those bottles, for Sunday morning barrel changes to get free slop off the lines.
