De gunge & de paint , citric acid clean up . Spray paint to a high gloss fire engine red mount it on a 2 inch high wooden plinth in oak or ash with nice chamfered edges and sell on eBay as true vintage chic door stop £25 plus p&p

Best of luck with that. After a slew of people taking the proverbial over the years, a lot of companies now just offer to replace or refund. If you're lucky they might replace with a bulk pack of rice and mice.
I knew one bloke who regularly had the awful luck to buy tainted products and filled his kitchen with freebies.
