Was given these yesterday by a very nice man after he insisted we wouldn't be able to deliver 3 urgently needed abnormal loads to a construction site because the road leading to it was clogged with parked cars.
Urgent enough that a 500 ton mobile crane was rigged and ready to unload us, it took all of 45 minutes and much use of 2-way radios to steer the trailers in, and 5 minutes of that was donning boiler suits and mashing a pot of tea

Having finally established that no amount of removing, cleaning and remounting was going to stop one of my winter alloys from letting air escape, I had the car booked into The Wheel Specialist in Inverness for a refurbishment/powder coating. I've been running on 3 x winter alloys + 1 x summer one - not the brightest idea I've ever had but I needed to be mobile for clinics etc. Luckily the weather cooperated by not being below zero when I've had to be on the move........
Anyway, I got the wheel back [fitted] yesterday and I'm very pleased with the result. I decided on a change of colour for the Wolfrace ones to be more in line with the BMW CSLs on which I have the summer tyres - from silver with black infills to what the wheel chap referred to as "black chrome". Cost for the service? £78 all in
What do you reckon [excuse poor pics, and the apparent disparity in size due to perspective - it's only 17" > 18" compensated by different tyre aspect ratio] ?
I'll be getting the remaining 3 x winters done to match in Spring/Summer next year.

it’s made in Wisconsin, I wanted to paint it in Castrol colours but maybe a US oil company would be more appropriate

In the UK, there is a similar but shorter jack listed on ebay under " Vintage Dunlop No. 12 Jack Made in England ".

I really wanted an Epco but this will do! I have so much Britool I fancied another piece of classic British workshop equipment. Castrol classic oils make a nice range of vintage style imperial pouring cans, which I’m sorely tempted to buy!

I love the old cans they supply the older grade oils in. Low detergent mineral oil, the tractor loves it too

A new carabiner for my chainsaw strop. Was hoping it'd be more pink but it's really purple.
And a really nice Rock Exotica swing cheek rope pulley. Bought the captive carabiner a few months ago, they make a nice matched pair.
Everything else i've acquired lately is gifts for other people.

A fixed steady! Rare as rocking horse poop.
I don’t think the big travelling steady will fit on an L5.
Yeah I suspect I could eBay the fixed steady and see more back than the whole lot cost me
no it was in the cupboard but I suspect that may be for the Colchester Triumph he has rather than this L5

Today I received a very unpleasant culinary surprise. 
Having messed about at various [generally non-productive] jobs today I was late in getting the curry organised and took the lazy way for the accompanying rice.
I stuck a packet of Lidl's finest 'Egg Fried Rice' in the m/wave and zapped for the requisite time. When opened & decanted onto my plate I was greeted with this......
I recalled a similar thing being posted on a forum recently [here or elsewhere, I can't find it now] and even commented that I'd used their product on and off over the years and never had any problems - spoke too soon, didn't I.....

A flat battery on the new to me Grand Cherokee
No problem, quick jump start and we are rolling but quickly discover the electric windows have stopped working and not so quickly discovered the heater is now stone cold
The drivers window on the forester packed in the other week. You have to reach inside the door cavity with a ratchet and a Phillips head screwdriver bit, exerting enough force to break the loctite they used at the factory. It’s a horrible job to do.
