I've been abusing a Halfords 1/2" version for the last 15 yrs - and it was abused in a work communal toolbox for a few years before that. Got some slop in the joint, but just keeps on going.

I had a 1/2" Snap On one for over 20 years, had loads of (ab)use, 8' scaffold pole and me then swinging off it snapped it similar to the OP
No hassle swap out by Mr Snap On man tho

Treated myself to a Fluke meter for £59 with 1 week delivery on aliexpress, Sent from Spain oddly enough.
The only thing I needed the manual for - if you want to get a tone for continuity you have to press the yellow button once in resistance measuring mode.
Edit: oh right, the yellow button activates the mode denoted in yellow on the dial, that makes sense. I’m such a dummy.

It's funny how people slag off Halfords tools, but I've only ever broken one 3/8 socket U/J through stupidity, yet it was exchanged without question. I've had a lot of my Halfords tools for years and as you say, it "just keeps on going"

I agree.
Only one tool I broke, that was swooped out. Not even a "call the manager".
How ever, look round the back and you will see containers full of silverline tools.

As a rule I don't buy S/line tools!
My last boss would buy the multimeters and the Electrical screwdrivers for the engineers.
What he spent in 3 months he could of gone to a approved Fire Alarm out let and brought us 1 meter and one screwdriver and they would still be working.

Is it just the light or is that corrosion I spy on the broken face? Could be the failure mode there.I made a 3/4" breaker bar in to scrap, must have been double FT, the 6' bar over the handle probably didn't do it any favours though

It took 7 hours to do a 200 mile round trip to pick up most of another Smart and Brown Lathe well worth it and met a super chap as well

A work mate brought one around 1978 which I borrowed before he got to use it, first time it was used and I broke it, never even applied a lot of torque either. Got one myself that has taken far more abuse with no problems

Today, I acquired a working Soba rotary table
I will now say that I purchased it from Axminster and as you may have read, it was broken and unusable. I contacted their customer support and they offered either a courier to pick it up and send a replacement or I could go to my local branch and pick up a replacement. No argument, no fuss. Result:

Great result, the original not been trashed by the courier would have been better but full marks for Axminster for quickly sorting you with a replacement. It is easy to run a company when things are going right, take the money and send the goods out, it only when things go wrong that you find out how good they actually are.

I'm sure I don't need to remind a fellow Welshman (I'm guessing, based on where you live) that one of the world's best selling whisky brands (2nd only to Jim Beam) was originated by Evan Williams a Welsh immigrant, who was born in Dale, Pembrokeshire but emigrated to the United States towards the end of the 18th century. Williams settled in Kentucky and it's thought began distilling in 1783, in what is now Louisville.
Granted, it's not actually distilled in Wales today but I've never let the facts spoil a claim to fame.

Empty pockets and a new car.
After sorting out the suspension, the damned Disco 3 locked me out while I was stuck in the middle of nowhere, then the starter died the week after. The MOT was coming up and there was a list of stuff that needed doing so I cut my losses and stuck it in as P/X on a double cab Ford Ranger. I've been considering a pick up for a while, I wouldn't need a trailer as often so could just borrow the neighbours trailer occasionally, plus I'm selling my current trailer to a mate so will have access to it. Also far better for moving machinery around, a pallet will go in the back. And I can shift a tonne of pellets for the boiler easily. The missus was also in support as she can't get her new tent in the Leaf and the battery range isn't quite there for going into the wilds camping with the kids.
I looked at an Isuzu DMAX, a bit too noisy, the 2021 version should fix that but I liked them a lot, no nonsense engineering. The current Mitsubishi is probably the ugliest car in the world, I had an older Subaru forester that was ugly, but the Mitsi makes the Ssangyong Rexton shed on wheels look pretty. The Toyota needs the upcoming upgrade. The Sanngyong was a bit small and not that cheap. That left the Navara and the Ranger. Older Rangers weren't that good, at least according to a couple of friends that used them for work, but the latest impressed me, still on cart springs but felt more planted than the Nissan which is on coil springs. The Nissan has 5 years warranty, the Ranger 3, but its about 440 per year to extend it. The Nissan also has rear discs not drums, but felt a bit cramped in the cab compared to the ranger. But the two winning features was the Ranger engine, the 213PS motor really shifts considering its 3 tonne of truck, plus the heated screen is so practical where I live. No need to wait for the engine to warm up to defrost.
The dealer had a special in that looks a bit like the Raptor (if you squint) but has the standard load/towing figures. So after working out the pros and cons it was nice to let the inner hooligan make the final decision. Nissan didn't have much stock if you wanted an automatic, probably January of February, the Ranger was in stock and its has the same 10 speed auto as much higher powered cars which I thought was a good sign. So we got a Ranger Thunder with a sliding bed cover, and tow bar, standard features on this version covered everything else we wanted. Arrives Friday or Monday depending on lock-down logistics.
The following picture would look much better if there was a Tom Senior mill on a pallet in the back
