There’s a cool section in the back of all the discontinued serial numbers. 1/4 has the code D for dwarf, and 9/32 M for midget. Doubt you could get away with that today!

Its the basis for my sons Christmas present, he can have a brand new gaming pc but its coming in bits and we have to build it together, I wanted to test the big bits first

The graphics card is just for testing as when the new Nvidia 3000 series releases there will be some bargains and the hard drive was just one I grabbed to test the sata ports

Many years ago put a slug of acrylic in the screw hole on top of the nut with the leadscrew engaged on the end. i then heated the nut a tightened the bolt into the mounting hole to press the acrylic slug into the lead screw to take up the backlash on a worn nut. it worked quite well. I dont know it you could do it on a Student nut. I sprayed the end of the leadscrew with a silicon furniture polish to aid the release of the leadscrew.

A new fibre optic cable for my underwater camera. Was told by a few folk on the Olympus faceache page that it's possible to repair the ends of my old cable with a razor blade , but I have infinitely better and safer ways to occupy my time on this earth .




And what will be the basis of my "Diving just past the back of beyond survival kit" from the stalwart gentleman that is @slim_boy_fat . John, very much appreciated .

Too right. Having done a course which included fibre optics, I resolved to always order the correct lengths of pre made cables, it may be ok sat in an office but not something I can be doing with on site. We are talking relatively short cables for HD video distribution, usually under 30M so for me not a difficult decision.

Re post #24452, thank you all for your kind comments, support and encouragement - they're all greatly appreciated.

Only time will tell how this pans out, but the Consultant said I had done very well on the 'outgoing' treatment, so fingers crossed the new treatment regime won't be any less 'intrusive', from a practical point of view.

Today is the first day I've not had to take maaaany tablets [iirc, 41 was the max, back at one point in my treatment :whistling:] and I've had the feeling all morning that I'm missing something - odd how you can get used to things, isn't it. :rofll:
