Look what I found in the bottom of one of my oil cans:

Duckhams oil! Haven't seen (or smelled) that in more than 30 years. I'd like to get a full can of it so I can use it as workshop air freshener

Halfords 20/50 "Classic" motor oil is the same green colour and as I remember, has the same smell as Duckhams oil. Been using it in my old Chevy truck for a fair while now. seems to do the job OK.

1950 1/2 ton. I bought it at a US car show 15 years ago and shipped it over; The fact it came with an old 'Farm Truck' License plate should have been fair warning for some of the "get 'er done" repair work that I discovered when I got it home and started getting it ready for a UK MOT.

Awful black kalex unit moved to the garage along with filing cabinets. Some quick shelves fitted and a desk made. Courtesy of leftovers from when I was fitting bedrooms
New light and blind. Much nicer space.

Just need to sort the drawers in the garage and stick a quick desk over it and replace the shelves .


As a bonus I've got some more space to put some new synths in

I have been meaning to make a retaining wall in the garden a little taller so I can mow up the the edge and also have somewhere to sit. Its been a while due lock down/skintness/being a sickly child but on Saturday I got a bulk bag of sand off freecycle. Yesterday I got 6 free bags of cement. Today...

Collected an empty 19kg propane bottle, to be cut up for furnace. I was expecting it to be old and rusty, but it looks fairly new.

Posted a thread a while back about pressurised sprayers. I been on the lookout for a Gloria, ordered one on Thursday. Saturday my son brings round an old but good Gloria knapsack sprayer, for my aunt to collect. Sunday my mum brings the Hoseloc version round. Used once and put in the shed. You can have it. Tell you lime buses.

Can you still get it ,haven’t noticed for years.
When I was 15 ,and helping in a garage,they sold those cylindrical duckhams top up cans,I used to scavenge all the discarded ones to get the dregs out,a few days later had enough for an oil change on one of my field bikes.

Furnace as in patio heater or more like a forge? I have a couple of 19kg bottles up in Yorkshire that I need to find a use for so looking for ideas, I don't need a piggy BBQ or a Minion patio heater before anyone proffers.

Furnace, for melting aluminium. I will cut the top off and use fire clay/perlite, and a proper crucible. If the plan goes well it will be powered by a 3kw kiln element, or two. If not, propane burner, or coals.

for melting aluminium hardly think it will melt lead never mind aluminium unless I'm missing something propane or coke yes

With the 'strip-top' cans, if you nipped the 'lip' flat with a pair of pliers it was astonishing how much you could 'recover'. We were saving the planet ahead of our time.
