It is to do with how the belt is scarf jointed together. In one direction, the thing you are sanding could open up the joint: in the other, it will press it shut.

Yes. Got that same set in 1981.
The ratchet broke after 20 years. I still use what I haven't lost.

I’ve still got 99% of my Kamasa tools from when I started my apprenticeship in 1977 plus a huge set that was my dads dating from around the same era. Mine are all stamped ‘W Germany’, which might give a clue to the actual manufacturer, whereas my dads are stamped ‘Japan’. The only problems have been with the ratchet (mechanism bust) and the water pump pliers (broke across adjustment slot due to misuse) and they were replaced without question at the time.
They’ve been used regularly over the years and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them based on my experience.

I must have played 1000s, if not 10s of 1000s of hours of heavy metal through it.
only bought because I recently bought a couple of cassettes of an australian pubrock band called "The Choirboys' (from ebay.Oz - never released in europe, or on CD), and had nothing to play them on since i got rid of the Lexus.
It sounds *awesome*. its amazing how much better it sounds compared to mp3s - even through a decent speaker system

The belts last longer the right way round as the stuff being linished run off the belt higher on to the lower belt at the join . The other way round there is a raised edge there to hit the material that's being linished .In the course of 'dismantling' the linisher to give it a bit of a clean, I noticed that the previous owner had the belt on backwards, i.e. the arrows against the direction of travel.
Thinking about this and looking at how the belt is made/moves, I can't really see it matters which way round it is. Am I missing something vitally important to the efficient operation of the machine, or just being dumb....?

Here in Italy almost all mechanics used and uses Beta and I'm one of those (not a mechanic)
I do love Beta because I grown-up using them
Mine is more likely an affective factor but I reckon that tools quality isn't as same as used to be
Other Italians love USAG that was an Italian company but nowadays is part of the Stanley/black&decker group as same as facom
I personally don't like this make because design .
Mundial Is another Italian company which produced tools for Beta prior reclaimed its independence
Beta and Mundial tools are practically the same.
Another Italian company is Pastorino which I personally hate but there are people who love them
Anyway the juice of this post is
Tools are something subjective
The user is who makes the tool great or not
Someone would find a particular tool make great or not, comfortable or not, strong or not.
I personally like Beta because I do like the finish ,the shapes and how I feel their tools in my hands
But I don't like some of their products like pilers scissors and other things.
I love Knipex pilers for example
If someone asks me which tools make I would recommend , I couldn't say one
But essentially I could tell what is my experience with a particular one , and tell what I told here so essentially try various pay attention to how you feel the tools in your hands , that's the most important thing .
You can buy a snap on wrench because someone told you that are the tool Rolls Royce but if you don't feel comfortable with it ,it will be not different than a Lidl wrench in your brain .
Just an opinion I'm saying all and I'm saying nothing

This turned up today from Ebay and will for now be used to garnish the wall in my man cave and the sticker will go on my tool box, It has already given a few mates a giggle so i am very happy to have a doubleboost B3LL 3ND

SketchUp pro.
Has its good and bad points but suits me for designing furniture and roofs etc
Worth me spending an hour drawing something up to sell it to a client and make materials easier to add up
Though this is my room

It's a dumping ground for anything we want out of the kids way.
I gutted it over Xmas and it's ended up a tip again. Wife's idea of putting stuff away is to shove it in here
