Went for this in the end. Partly on Geoff's recommendation, I think it is the same family of drives. Hope it is OK. Made sense to sort the issue in one go rather than get a 240 vfd (Which would have been cheaper initially but a waste in the long run) and lose the top end speed on the mill and have to get another motor at a later date to get full use.

Should do the job. I dont think I have changed the belt settings on the RF30 since I put the VFD on. Make sure you get the manual. There are a few settings you will need to set e.g. if you are using remote switching or speed pot. I used the original on / off switch to remote switch the VFD.
I am looking at putting a VFD on my Daishin Prince lathe as the bottom speed is more than I like for threading.

I had one years ago and the sparks son I was working with borrowed it and used it as a hammer and snapped the blade locating stud off it!
I only found out after he went back to Cornwall luckily for him.....

Hacksaws always give me flashbacks to when I was an apprentice and the powered hacksaw machine broke , I was handed some 3 " steel bar and told to start sawing.

In my experience those silly little soldering guns are enough to make anybody hit the bottle..Despicable things....

It is the second one I have.

For circuit board repairs, cable joints they are a pig to use.

For copper wire art work, small lap joints in brass and similar they are not bad.

good as a hot wire cutter for foam, as well.

... and soldering together multitudinous wires under the dashboard when fitting car alarm systems (previous job of mine). Remember to put the heatshrink over the wires first
Just don't drop the hot end on the carpet of the new BMW you're working on, as the guy I worked for did

There are a lot of single axis dro on AliExpress for cheap
You have to zero them while changing the tool but you still have a digital reference

I struggle to understand your struggle. If you see what I mean. DRO on a lathe transforms your repeatable accuracy. Also significantly increases your speed at doing a job. A real plus for me.

Yes ebay, ValueDRO. It was £299 and sent from the UK.

I have yet to get one of those to solder a wire or joint within the max time you are supposed to run them for.

I've nearly got all the bits for the new jukebox. This is the second one I've built, the missus wants spotify on the one in the house. So I shall build another one up, this time with an rPi4, get it working with Rasp Spotify then swap it with the one in the house. I will then rebuild that one as it has some crud on it from when I first built it, and use it in the workshop.

rPi4 have micro HDMI connectors, while the older ones are full size. I ordered the mini-HDMI converter for my KVM switch in the workshop by mistake, I'll wait for the right one to arrive before starting the build.

I want an analogue clock for the kitchen, built into one of the new units. I also want one that keeps time, the current one is useless. So I've bought a small quartz clock movement with MSF time signal receiver, and a template to make my own clock face. About 15 quid including postage, but I could have probably go that down to just over 10 quid by waiting for delivery from China.
