Booted up steam this evening and been going through my library.
Have an urge to play through both portals.

Right , as promised.... Yesterday I acquired the following.

2 x Draper #350 63mm clamps. Not the most robust and I'd not trust then with anything 'crucial', but perfectly OK for wood-bothering etc and as we all know, you can never have enough clamps. £1 each.

Then these off the 'Bay, thanks to a link here. Oddly enough, although I can either skip-dive or buy most of my steel, chequer plate etc locally[ish], ali for some reason is thin on the ground. So, 6 x billets 'just to have' for those small jobs which demand ali. £14.99 to the door.

Next up, although it hasn't arrived yet, one of these off eBay [no telling when Lidl will have them back in stock again] because I've been using a Draper equiv of this and it's been driving me mad for years. Because it's corded, it thinks it's the Boss and will fall over without provocation. It sounded its death knell when it started refusing to feed the stick unless I physically put pressure on the end of the glue stick, and that's without the spider's web of glue over everything. The bonus is no more being tethered at the end of a cord, without running extension leads etc. So...

I have an older version of that hot glue gun & it has served me well. Whilst not being strictly cordless it will melt glue for a while once you remove it from the power connection base. You can also use it corded by plugging the power lead directly into the gun.

They are back in NI lidl stores next week so should soon be in rest of the uk as well.

The last of my Battery adapters finally arrived this morning. UPS driver was polite.

For the past couple of years I've been slightly bugged by an illumination oversight in the workshop. The banks of 4' fluros I installed are off-centre, and that leaves an uneven distribution of light to one side of the bike ramp. When I've been doing anything on the ramp I had to plug in the light over the bench to fill the gap, but it's not perfect.
So I got a 5' LED single batten today that will fill that gap next to the ramp. Handily, it comes pre-wired, so just have to wire it in to the endmost fluro fitting.
It's a start; I've been looking at the plummeting prices of 4' LED tube replacements in the past year, so once I start running out of spare tubes I'll buy a few at a time and get the whole lot done in the next couple of years.

Handily enough, the price locally was almost the same as the Amazon price I nicked the picture from - it's the same unit.

The units I bought came with a 3-pin socket in the end so you has a flex tail to wire to or you used a straight-through connector to link them end to end.

Its a mockup of a blade. I found the porpoise tail in Shetland 13yrs ago, always wanted to turn it into a knife, but couldn't get the fish connection out my head with a filleting blade I’d use once in a blue moon.
That was util last night for some reason I drew this up....and it will probably stay at this stage until I decide how it fit the tag into the tail, it would look good as a full tang but you would lose the bits at the bottom, also the top has small holes that would be cut out. Cant get any bigger as it fits my hand very well as is. Thinking of splitting the tail up hollowing out the middle I could then have a full length. Glue the blade in then dip the bone in ? Enough to protect leaving the profile to aid grip

Looking at the specs of this it is galvafroid under a different label, £90 a tin, I got the whole lot for £20!

Make the tang 1/2 the diameter of each vertebrae and make each bulge exactly like the profile so it mimics the shadow of the bones drill the last vertebrae then resin glue them in place using blu tac to hold/ seal the parts together . For that last vertebrae turn up an internally threaded stainless top hat for the nut & put a 1/4 " thick brass guard on the front . Then clean off the blu tac & se how it is before you dip the whole handle .

This lot was skip finds.


2 Almost complete Bit Sets, 1 adjustable. 1 twin setting LED Head Torch. 1 Draper adjustable Ratchet bit driver.

The sets are missing about 20% in total and the LED Head torch is fully working.
I suspect there was more lower down, but it was a very full skip.
