Today I acquired...........

I fashioned a cone to guide the gases into the silencer (actually, it was a cone from the Hardle guts that I'd thrown out), migged it into place and stuffed a couple of stainless steel pot scourers in the space.

Sounds much better, but need to see if the annoying blat is gone on the road.

I can report it's much improved, with the annoying blat almost totally gone, as well as a more progressive feel to the individual raspy noises. Overall, a nicer system to live with. Now to get on with tuning the SU properly.

Took a punt on a cheap and cheerful Chinese wind deflector, as the screen is just a couple of inches too short.

It's not bad for quality, far exceeding what I expected for the price. Time will tell how well it holds up to being banged about by the wind, though.

Turns out it's just a bit tall, but they're so cheap it's not worth messing around trying to cut that and run the risk of busting it, so I just ordered another one that's about 30mm shorter.

Not so much acquired more installed... 7mtrs of chimney flue, threaded down the chimney to socket into a pipe from the stove. Reason for this was if we burnt damp wood it would condense on the inside of the stack and then ‘bleed’ through the wall eps up stairs in the bedroom..

I should have fitted a liner when I originally fitted the fire, but others told me different. So a bit of forward thinking, I made sure I could retro fit a liner without disturbing the chimney breast in the living room.

I’m please to say it worked. Well chuffed. Really well chuffed

It went surprisingly well. Interesting holding 4mtrs of flue above the pot to slide it down, then hold that while I connected another 3mtrs. It poked out the pot about 600mm, that was split length ways and then folded over the pot and jubilee clipped in place. So when its swept it doesn’t push the liner up.

Its good when jobs go well....it's rare so enjoy the moment.

I had one at the weekend....replacing a decat pipe with a proper silencer....plan was to cut the flanges off the decat pipe....slide them into the bolt on silencer and stick it in the car.

Everything fit like a glove and I was done in 10 minutes...bloomin amazing

It's 28 year old
Also got a 9 z120 125mm flap discs
And 3 Förch 1.6 125mm cutting discs

A “small” bearing press. Had to cut a foot off it to be able to stand it up in the garage. Filled with fluid and have pumped the ram both ways about 30 times but it still won’t build pressure, guess I’ll have to take the pump off

I bought a new trowel, after using a london pattern early this year i came to really like it cuts bricks better than a Philadelphia trowel
