Today I treated myself to a 2.2lb lump hammer from Stax

I’ve had the same hammer for the last 20 years but I split the shaft when I stupidly ran over it!!!

my dad bought me first hammer when I was 16 after I had completed 3 months of my apprenticeship along with many other tools, the hammer was one of the few remaining as the majority were cheap ‘make do’s’ until I could afford better gear.

I think these hammers are weighted just right and you can get a right good swing on it when chiselling off mono bolt heads of the like

fill crack with good adhesive ,wrap with mig wire or copper wire, then pvc tape for comfort, last another twenty years

Don't discard the old one, as you may find that you wish you had kept it and added a new handle. That happened to me when I replaced my 4 pound sledge with a cheapie which just didn't feel or balance right.

I’ve got some Gorilla glue and will be doing that very thing. I just stumbled across the new one and couldn’t believe they still make them so had to have one.

Even if didn’t repair or replace the handle I wouldn’t throw it out, my dad is of very few words so this has some sentiment

Seems well enough made, but the daft picture on the box shows a pic of the clamps being stored on a pair of metal clips...
Bonus points for blowing the main output fuse when switching it on, depending on the firmware driving it, I suppose.
It might detect a short and not energise.
