Date is stamped into the central steel reinforcing ring where the nut tightens

Only on the 9" discs of those i have, the rest have no kind of date markings at all. Not all of them are old stock.

Where you find them? Also did they have any more.

They all came from ebay, various different listings. They're all a mix of brands from different sellers.

Another old lappy, slightly upgraded from the one that's going in the workshop. This one will take its place as the standby and out-and-about jobby.
Accompanied by a punch set and popper studs for repairing bike jackets.
Accompanied by an AFR gauge set (inc LSU 4.9) made by 14point7 for the bikes, setting up of.

Ebay special, indeed.
I'll be having at it fairly soon, as the pop studs have popped into the distance somewhere. Only got two remaining, and no reason to think they'll hang around any longer than their brethern.

I hope so. I actually don't go through them fast at all, but since good ones are often £3-5 each (Bosch are over £5/ea at Screwfix.) it made good sense to stock up when they can be found so cheap.

I paid £7 for one Norton 9" grinding from Screwfix, but got 10 of them off ebay for £8.

Yeah why not if you can get a cheap deal on good stock

I bought some budget flap discs from eBay. Complete utter tosh. Each 60 grit discs lasts approximately 3 micro seconds, and I’m being generous

There are some very good ones out there cheap, often industrial brands that are lesser known. Have a look for Tundra, Norton, Garryson, Klingspor, Bibielle, Dronco, they're all good brands.

I bought a bunch of Abracs to try out, never used them before.

If they look safe and good to use, they're probably good to use This is why we don't take angle grinder guards off Big grinding stones for pedestal grinders - not worth taking chances with - but small sub-5" cutting/flap discs... not really much kinetic energy stored there.

+1 on all those brands Moose mentioned. The daddy of abrasives for me is Pferd, but they aren't cheap. Klingspor is my second favourite.

The Abracs look decent, but we'll see how they actually hold up compared to others. Even at £1 each if they only last 30 seconds it's not worth it when good ones can be found cheap too. I've used Bosch a lot before and they last pretty well. I never remove the lawyer guard off my grinders, you only need to see one disc explode to know why they're there. I never quite understood why people remove them anyway.

Forgot about Pferd. I have a lot of their carbide burrs, which are excellent, and also got them all for ~£5 each by piecing odd ones together to make quite a decent set. Never used their cutting wheels or abrasives though. I'd like one of their diamond-coated wire wheels for removing mill scale but they're about £300 apparently.

I've used disks from skips, derelict factories, car boot sales, and even ones I found on a disused railway line, never had a problem with any of them. When the 9" ones wear down I use them for the 4" grinder.
