What you call a Railway Mans 3 colour Lantern is what I would call a bardic. They were painted green & issued to the army in NI in the 70's & 80's. They used the 3 colour shades to operate vehicle checkpoints. Very strong & sturdy build & a decent light of them at the time. Can you still get the big rectangular batteries for them?

I new it as the Bardic as well. It was still her service in NI up to at least 2000.
Good and sturdy and could be used to persuade people to follow check point rules.
Yes, the battery is available as "New/Old stock". But must in the MOD were adapted to take 3 x C cells in a adapter.

In Reference to the above post @eddie49 there was a Yellow version issued to the RN. It had the normal white and only a Red shade fitted.
Designed to be used in Magazines. It was soon superseded by the 3 Cell Yellow torch.
That is the rare one. Apart from seeing one in service I have only ever seen one in a MOD surplus sale site. Rumour has it that when they were retired from the RN They were converted to a standard 3 colour version.
They are a beastie.

There is a decent fish and chip shop near by.
They have "Weed Whackers" in on a regular bases. Like you said Hickory or Ash. But you do see them with other handles.
I have seen both sold as "Weed Whackers" or with a cane handle "Gentle Man Weed whacker."
But either handle, they are good tool.

I looks like the bolt on top of a filter cylinder where it can run for several months before being undone , the filter element taken out replaced , resealed & bolted backup .
If it were a lot thicker I'd say the cap end of a big low vacuum cylinder as it's made of mild steel .

I'd call it a 3 aspect lamp. My dad had several in his effects when he died which I sold to aid the funeral expenses. They weren't worth a lot but they did get snapped up as they are very collectable.

Once you've delved into production on hard and software it does change the way you listen to music somewhat.
Been enjoying this controller
Gives me control of most of what I need to sit and make a beat without touching the mouse.
I want another 3 now. 8 Channels and 32 steps in front of me.
Have an onscreen red outline you move via controls on the hardware to select active areas to be controlled. Not as nice as having it all visible in front of you.
When they eventually roll out midi scripting within my daw il make use of cheaper controllers to do the job and write my own code

It arrived yesterday and I'm quite impressed with the output - given the suction on it, I think it will adequately draw through at least 20ft of pipe, and likely a lot more.
Remains to be seen how long it lasts, but it won't be running for hours on end. It's noisy enough that I think I'll mount it upstairs.

Well, I never got around to giving the Cheap eBay 200amp single phase inverter MMA a really proper test and full evaluation today because I was too busy relocating these free gas cylinders.
There's a 47kg with about 10kg of propane still in it which will be used for my farriers forge in the next few days, 3 X 12kg and 1 X dumpy cylinder.
At the bottom of the photo are some rings from legitimately written off very old Oxygen and Argon cylinders which I have cut on a bandsaw into 1", 2", 4" and 6" widths to make some "retro" steel wheels rims from.
The 47kg and dumpy cylinder along with 4 x 2" rings will be made into a horizontal camp/festival hot water heater, any of you who've been in the scouts will probably know what I'm on about. The 47kg cylinder will become a 90 litre water vessel, the dumpy cylinder will be where the cold water is poured in and 2 x 4" rings will become rear wheels and 2 X 4" rings will become front castor wheels. …. all will be revealed in a future photo project blog.
BTW I managed to get all these cylinders into my tiny little 2003 Ford Fiesta Finesse 3 door hatchback in one go!
